Thousands converge on Pattaya to celebrate the New Year

PATTAYA:-- It appears that many made last minute plans to celebrate the New Year in Pattaya as all major traffic routes into the City were heavily congested on New Year’s Eve.

We checked all major roads in and around Pattaya and noticed heavier-than-normal traffic and only a small number of Police and Police Volunteers around to ensure the traffic flow was maintained.

In the center of Pattaya, all major roads were heavy with traffic and foot-traffic along Pattaya Beach was heavy as well.

Thais love to sit in their pickups all day , the whole family having a good time until they reach beach rd after 6 hours in queue, then 3 hours sitting down on a mat and eat , then back to BKK and enjoying the rest of their day.......

It's no different in greater Chiang Mai, access to the roads to the mountains are now controlled and restricted, the traffic situation is dire at times.

access to the roads and mountain might be controlled but there is no control over the traffic itself by turning off the traffic lights and leaving hundreds of foreign tourists scratching their hands as to how they can cross the road with a never-ending stream of traffic that doesn't stop blink.png

hen I say it was controlled, motor vehicles were not allowed to travel from Chiang Mai to the temple on Doi Suthep, PhuPing or Doi Pui, the road was physically blocked and public transport was made available instead.
