There is also 'Thai Child visa': foreigners having a child with a Thai woman.

Conditions are about the same than Marriage visa, but it is very difficult to have information from airport immigration guys.

I'm going soon, Tuesday to be exact. Since the online queue system has sadly been phased out, does that mean we should all queue at 6am to get a queue number like in the not-so-good old days?

went to airport imm last week, virtually empty, only one or two officers in attendance, lots of students.

Isn't this the office that is too busy and understaffed to process mail in 90 day reports?

Can you verify that there is no more mail in's. Nancy is at the Promenada and I am sure she will have a post on that today. I just checked the forum for the Promenada where she was today and it was mentioned several times to her to ask about that. 4:17 and no post yet.

Back home from Promenada. Everything went better than I thought it would. After I finished with the retirement extension processing but before they called the next customer, I asked the male officer, the tall fellow who doesn't wear glasses and is quite serious, if it is still possible to do 90 day report by mail to the airport office -- I had heard they had stopped accepting them and we had to come in person. He looked surprised (I think he's a supervisor there) and checked with this female colleague at the desk. She also was surprised and said, no they will not stop doing 90 day reports by post. She asked where I heard this and I said it's a rumor on the internet and they had a good laugh.

Later in the day, when I was waiting near closing time for my passport to be returned, I saw that the lady who had been very efficient at processing 180 - 90 day reports today was still at the desk, shuffling thru the reports, but obviously not taking any more customers. So, I asked her the question, but in a little different way. Can I send my 90 day report by mail to the airport office. The answer was yes, I clarified they haven't stopped doing this and she said no, but then said how they like to see me at Promenada so please don't stop coming to the office to do them myself.

I think Sparkles may have been singled out for "special treatment" when his 90 day report by post wasn't returned.

Well thats interesting as my wife and I were told a definate no,no more mail ins. It had been there for nearly 2 weeks by reg post, normally 4 day reurn round.Of course as usual happens when you are with your Thai partner they prefer to talk to her.Now I warned a neighbour who had posted his 10 days ago ,he went to the airport office today and his mail was sitting there same as mine. So is it a go slow or rejection?time will tell. Not just me or was the officer having a bad day?

I've communicated with the Consuls about this issue and their belief is that it's "slow go" -- that they're simply backlogged because of the holidays. I don't think they've actually called anyone at Immigration and confirmed this, however.

Slowwwww .The pile awaiting processing was no more that 20 reports when we were there. It took approx 3 minutes for completion of mine on the computer.

Well hope the Consuls are correct as it obviously lessens the crowds at Promenada.

imho think the message the guy doing the 90 day mail in, was im doing my best, stop pestering me,or maybe withdraw 90 day mail in.think he quite a proud man and farangs questioning him raised his hackles. plus of course you don't want him to rember your name and address, for next 90 day post in.

There is no visiting the old Imm Airport Office any more to do 90 day reporting it just happens to be where the mail ins go. He was just standing there next to the girl on the computer who was processing.

I was, as usual, very polite in my query and have spoken to him many times over 7 years ,he has always been very pleasant and helpful

but not the other day.

Your speculation for his reasons is merely that, pure speculation. No one was "pestering" him and "assisting" is part of his job isn't it ?

At 11.45am here was hardly anyone there in the expanded office area and empty car parking spaces unlike the chaos at Promenada.

I only originally posted this report to warn people who might be waiting, in vain, for the postman now I wish I hadn't.

C'mon now, don't be like that.....every piece of information is helpful. Especially the part about how they don't like you. biggrin.png

I'm going soon, Tuesday to be exact. Since the online queue system has sadly been phased out, does that mean we should all queue at 6am to get a queue number like in the not-so-good old days?

So I went at 7:30 in this morning, and picked up a queue number for one year extension for Thai spouse support.

It's much easier to get a parking space than previously, but the waiting time has not changed, and we had to wait until 14:00 to be called in. I did the 90-day report at the airport office too in a different section of the office, and this was all done at around 15:15.

There are indeed many students, but I'm not sure at this stage, they really help or slow things down, as senior staff often have to guide them.

They now ask for copies of Kor Ror 2 marriage certificate, and not only the colorful one as part of the paperwork for extension. So my wife will drive there again tomorrow to provide signed copies.

Yes. Normally, I think you should go to Promenada, but since I've done my yearly extension at the office the same day, they say I could do the 90-day at the airport office too. A few people other did the same.

Thanks

Confirms what I saw a few weeks ago, 2 Chinese were doing their 90 days there.

Where in the office did you do the 90 day report?

They do the same with reentry permits which is normally handled at Promenada. When you do your extension you can also do your reentry permit at the same time but only then. As for 90 day, sounds like the same exception.

It's close to the chairs where people wait. There's a counter with three people (two students and one senior staff), and I think they take pictures for teachers and students there too.

No problem (except time) doing a reentry at the airport immigration (not airport itself one) yesterday.. I was intending to get one on departure but adjusted flight times left that a bit close.

In another thread it was posted on how officers were on a 'go slow' and someone commented 'give me that job and I would double the output' type of comment.. All I can say is after watching the older guy doing the re-entry and 90 days yesterday, how true that is..

He sits there, squints over his glasses, looks for a stamp.. Looks up around the room again, sips his iced coffee, what was I doing again ?? Oh yes.. Wheres that stamp.. Now wheres the paper.. Squints over glasses.. scowls at room.. Locates stamp.. Flicks over paper.. Sips iced coffee.. Squints over glasses.. Adjusts stamps date.. scowls around room.. I mean what a bottleneck !!! They have a lot more student helpers now.. I stood close by and watched one young girl deal with all comers, check all passports and validities, check all their papers sending them off for more copies etc.. Complied them all properly, filled in a sheet of name, passport number, visa class, and what they were asking for.. Get the person applying to sign, in multiple languages and nationalities.. And do all of this at a ratio of way over 5:1 of the speed the old fella took just to put the stamp on them.. They then have another student efficiently take your digital photo.

Its beyond a joke.. Hes holding the whole thing up, taking almost 10 minutes simply to stamp the already checked and processed and filled in forms.. Theres 2 possible conclusions, either hes so totally inept that it actually takes him 10 minutes to stamp a piece of paper or he is purposefully making the whole process a go slow. Theres no other logical conclusion watching him at work. If he was being paid per stamp you watch that operation go 10 times faster. Sure you can chime in 'its just once a year' or whatever the justification for todays awful service is, but its beyond laughable.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hi,

My taximan today mentioned Promenada etc. First I knew of it as I have been away.

I have to do a 12 month Retirement Renewal next week and would much prefer to go to airport immigration - easier for wife and I.

From what is mentioned here looks like I could do at the Airport? Plus a Re-entry permit provided all at same time??

Also can anyone confirm if charge for 12 month Retirement Renewal is still 1900 Baht??

Grateful to hear.

Rgds.

Please read the first two posts in this topic - they detail the types of extension that can be done at the Airport Immigration office
