Looking for Serviced Apartment recommendations

Recommended Posts

Wondering if any TV denizens have experience or recommendations for the following.

As per the title, seeking an apartment for one person, on a flexible rental basis (monthly, weekly), preferably one bedroom, no need to be inside the superhighway, with pool, parking, gym, quiet and green location preferred.

My very strong suggestion is to not lease a flat or apartment or house North of The Runway in Chiang Mai, unless you are sure you do not mind the takeoff of many aircraft climbing overhead.

You can stand outside near any prospective property and if you hear any planes then you might wish to keep looking.

Even with soundproofing, still then the sound might bother you if you want to sit outside at any time.

The planes take off from about 6am to 2am the next day, at this time of the month of January, and December also.

Even if one is deaf, still the vibration might be noticeable.

I am also now looking for a new place, because I really do not want to put up with this for a year, or maybe two years, because the data shows it can shorten your life.

Kantary is nice very nice

To hand over 200k+ for a month stay it would have to be !!

He didn't mention the Budget :) I normally stay in a hotel as I'm a self professed lover of room service and Housekeeping ....service apartments is rather the same as a suite room

Kantary Hills http://www.kantarycollection.com/kantaryhills-chiangmai/

(hey, no budget was given!)

Didn't sound to me like it was to far away from the city. 44 Nimmanhaemin Road, Don't know if that has a lot of green around it.

One night $139.50 a night and you can only book in for 30 days at a time. Plus 7% hotel tax and 10% service charge.

$107.50 for a studio Plus the usual 7% and 10% charges

But it does include Breakfast. It said you might get a better rate booking through agoda.

is this a hangover from another thread??? go RESEARCH you know? Google? Agoda?

I was going to write a snappy comeback, but then I recalled your gem from another thread, and pity overtook me:

"On the ladies front (and that is important to me) Pattaya (especially) beats [Chiang Mai] hands down and I get down there at least six times a year."

Seriously, what's going to be a problem for the OP is the need for a pool and green. There are some nice choices at a good price without those, like The Dome and Viangbua Mansion.

I stayed at the Opium hotel the first month in CM. Staff are amazing. Hotel is clean & safe. Location perfect. Huge market a couple blocks away. Walk to RAM Hospital or Old City in 15-20 mins. Price is reasonable. Has everything you're looking for.

Give them a call or send an email. I booked by email while in Canada.

Looked good but could not get a price on it.

No matter how many times I see that written down, I always read it as Viagra.

No one ever seems to check airbnb.com on these types of requests. A sample search for a one bedroom with pool (entire apartment, not a shared room) brings up over 90 choices. (Sample search from 13 Jan - 10 Feb). Prices range from $14K thb per month and up.

I know this does not fit all the criteria but:

Thinking slightly outside the square and if you are on a budget "The Pub" might be an option. Very flexible booking - day to long term. Very good position. Self contained units - I am sure you could arrange room cleaning and laundry etc with the owner. I find it a good place to relax and quit quiet. Good greenery and close to the arboretum and Doi Suthep as well as CM Uni grounds. Maya shopping nearby. Parking no problem. It should be possible to pay a day fee for any of the many establishments about for the use of a pool and gym.

What you fail to grasp is that I am seeking recommendations from anyone who might have experience, not general advice on how to operate a web browser.

Nope, didn't "fail to grasp" anything. Simply trying to be helpful. Your response is unfortunately what makes internet forums so unpleasant at times.

You know what, I think you are right. I misread the intent of your opening line, but now as I read it again I see that you were in fact being helpful. I apologize, and thank you for the help.

email or call them for a price. It depends on the room and how busy they are etc.. I paid around 12,500/month, but had a HUGE balcony and a very large studio room. I talked with people who stayed for a few days and one who spends 8 months out of the year there, only to return home for holidays.

It has a pool & gym as well. The reason why I recommend them is because they just made is 'easy' for me to get my feet on the ground in CM. All the front desk staff speak clear English and will bend over backwards to help you. I even use the Hotel as a base of operations still when I need to get things done or need help from someone who speaks English.

Send an email. Mr. Boom will probably be the one to reply. He is the general manager & will help you out. I've actually already sent him an email with a link to this thread, so the ice is already broken if/when you are ready to inquire.

Cheers.

Thank you in return. It's sometimes difficult to discern "tone" or "intent" in the written statement online. No harm, no foul, as they say. thumbsup.gif

I'm looking for a serviced apartment for perhaps 6 months for an elderly (but energetic) relative. I looked at Opium apartments the other day as recommended in this thread, and for 20K per month, the apartment was very small. Kitchen size would do, however. There were also a lot of transient types sitting around there; single men in their 60-70's all tattooed up, smoking cigarettes, etc. People passing by the windows often with little privacy. My relative would not like an environment like that. Yes, K. Boom was excellent. Need more like him around here. Looked at Dome. It was small, had no kitchen and price was crazy.

Any ideas for a place to stay for a single Asian lady 70ish? Please, no HK Residence. Apartment furnished (doesn't need to be serviced) for up to 6 months. The apartment I first stayed in when I came here was about 60m2 which was small but fine for the short term. As far as I can remember the rent was around 10K. Something like that would be ideal, although 12-14K or so per month would be fine.

Thanks.

For a single, older lady on her own able to sign a six month rental contract, you might consider renting a furnished studio in either Hillside 4 or Nakornping condo. You may have to buy a few items for the kitchen, but there are many resident older ladies and couples living in these two buildings. You can arrange for building staff to come and clean the place once a week and there are laundry services nearby. And of course many restaurants both in the buildings and within easy walking distance. Not quite the same as a serviced apartment, but pretty close and without as many transients.

Thanks NancyL. As always, excellent advice!

I know Hillside 4 as a friend lives there. I forgot about that. I don't know Nakornping, but I'll check into it. How does one find vacancy listings for these buildings? In the lobby? Thanks again.

Some vacancies are posted in the respective condo building lobbies; for more options, visit the Condo Manager's office and inquire. You'll probably be shown available units on the spot.
