Internet Provider in Phuket for non-continuous use?

Featured Replies

I shall soon need a decent internet connection (6Mb/s minimum), which however I will use only part time, for example one week per month.

Does anyone have suggestions about pay-as-you go subscriptions or providers which allow discounts for "switch off" time?

I realize that there must be information I could search on the web, but given that it's often mostly in Thai I would be grateful for tips.Thanks.

For what the hassle when it only costs 500-1100 bath per month??

You didn't mention what type of device needs to have internet access, and what your expected download volume is to be.

You could try one of the 4G packages offered by all of the Thai telecom companies. They start at about 300 baht/mo and go up from there, depending upon the monthly data allowance. Most all will not cut off your access after you hit your plan's maximum, but instead will drop transfer rates to a lower speed.

For a PC or a tablet without built-in telephony (e.g. SIM card), you'll need to purchase a 4G USB AirCard. Smartphones and phone-enabled tablets only require the correct SIM card, which is usually free when signing up for the service.

Doubt you will find 'switch off time' discounts.

My back-up system is an AIS pocket wifi - I prepay 199 baht/month for unlimited use (although data is throttled after a set monthly limit). Cheap enough.
