mamypoko Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 be prepared for a scary long taxi long > 1 hour upon your return
samsensam Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 dont suppose there's another airfield in thailand they could use that wouldn't impact on commercial air flights?
KhunBENQ Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) Stay at home. To be serious: the good here is that you are warned (although on a bit short notice). Better than the surprises by some super VIP on a field trip to the province. Provincial airport closed for hours, airspace closed, long detours necessary. Happened twice to me. And even the airlines only get a short notice. Stay at home: really think twice whether you need to fly on these days. Edited January 6, 2016 by KhunBENQ
captspectre Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 dont suppose there's another airfield in thailand they could use that wouldn't impact on commercial air flights? there are afew other airports(Military) BUT that would not inconvience the public as well as don maung! never mind the hundreds of tourist and thai's just get into your little put put and fly around a civilian airport!
lonewolf99 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 When the President of Kazakhstan gets in a plane - all other flights are grounded. I kid you not. There are other mad dictatorship countries that do the same... oooops I hope the present Junta boss does not read Thai Visa and get any ideas from this comment....
KhunBENQ Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) oooops I hope the present Junta boss does not read Thai Visa and get any ideas from this comment.... Referring to my post #5: its not that all traffic is grounded, but if certain people are in the air at least part of the airspace is closed and even Suv. or Don M. might be closed for some short time during take off / landing. Provincial airports might be closed completely as long as the VIP plane is parked there (what I experienced). Edited January 6, 2016 by KhunBENQ
fred Kubasa Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I think it would be more advisable for all commercial and private plane flights to be cancelled and pedestrians/motorists advised to stay at least 50 kilometers away from the airport !
Dumbastheycome Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I think it would be more advisable for all commercial and private plane flights to be cancelled and pedestrians/motorists advised to stay at least 50 kilometers away from the airport ! Maybe right ! Those second hand F-16s had the "use by" date scrubbed out and replaced by " Made in The USA stickers.
jacko45k Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 dont suppose there's another airfield in thailand they could use that wouldn't impact on commercial air flights? There is a base in Korat but it would not suit visitors from the Bangkok area.
