ED visa extension - sent to airport immigration?

Featured Replies

Hi folks, hoping someone can offer some informed insight here.

I'm a student at CMU and on Friday went to Promenada to do the 90 days update on my ED visa for the first time, having gone to Vientiane to activate the visa in mid Oct.

However on arrival at Promenada, the lady at desk told me to go to airport immigration for stamp.. and wouldn't really engage in any further conversation.

Does that sound right to anyone? Admittedly I'm no expert on the intricacies and idiosyncracies of the visa system, but I was unaware the airport office handled ED visa matters.

Either way, I'm happy to go down there tomorrow at the crack of dawn for the extension.

However.. Having sat down and done sums, my course finishes soon and I plan to leave the country in 30-40 days' time.

So in theory I'm going for a 90 day update when ultimately 30 days could do it.

My current visa runs out on 12th Jan. For an easier life, do I have any options to simply extend for 30 days? Or would I need to do one of these border runs.

Any advice / insight, greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Or, to put the alternative more simply:

Is there a simple way to secure 30 days when your ED visa is about to run out?

Thanks

Go to the Airport Immigration office. They handle ED visa matters.

Will give it a go and let you know. Can't say I'm brimming with optimism.
