BANGKOK: -- Din Daeng police have concluded investigation into a car accident that caused a DJ to be laid off for misbehaviour in driving and fined both disputed parties for traffic violations.

Conclusion that both drivers, Pattarasak Tiemprasert, 35, or “DJ Keng”, and Kawinkarn Sirucha, 32, an architect, were wrong and violated traffic law came after the police have checked through all video cameras along the routes which both cars, a red Yaris sedan, and a black Toyota Vigo pickup truck trying to overtaking each other before both would come out of their vehicles, and ram their vehicles at each other.

Din Daeng police chief Pol Col Anek Plaisri said video clips police have examined clearly showed both sides were wrong.

Both drivers were present at the station to hear the charges and were also shown with the clips.

Kawinkarn was guilty for cutting into the lane of the pickup truck at critical time.

The fine is from 400-1,000 baht, but he agreed to pay the maximum fine of 1,000 baht, the police chief said.

However the DJ faced two charges, reckless driving which is subject to three months imprisonment, and a fine from 2,000-10,000 baht.

He also faced attempted assault charge which carries a one month jail term, and a fine of not over 10,000 baht.

For attempted murder charge, he said this was dropped after car experts have viewed that the impact from ramming the truck in reverse gear could not cause death.

The DJ was shown in a witness’ video clip driving in reverse gear to ram twice at the Yaris car parking behind after both had engaged in a car accident.

Both DJ Keng and Kawinkarn agreed to compromise at the presence of police with the tearful DJ promising he would calm down his temper while driving next time and admitted the pictures of several car accidents on his Facebook were real but all cases posted, he abided by traffic rules.

Kawinkarn also admitted he also was wrong in this case for coming out of his car and walking straight to knock at the windshield of the truck with force.

Both later shook hands to end the dispute with peace.

However the DJ not only lost his job at the 89.5 Sweet FM” station, but also has his driving licence suspended for two months.

The Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi suspended the DJ from duty on its radio station for his misbehaviour over a car incident which went viral on the social media after two video clips of the incident were shown.

The video clip posted by a witness in the incident showed he drove his vehicle in reverse to ram at another car three times, and also gave false information to passers-by at the scene.

I hope this little <deleted> ends up in jail. Pretty boy like him should make a lot of friends there. Road rage is bad enough but a liar who sheds crocodile tears just irks the hell out of people.

What's with the police ruling on anything?

Is acting as an arbitrator in their job description?

Isn't that up to the courts?

Loss of licence for only 2 months is very lenient given that he was caught on video deliberately ramming the other vehicle, not once, but three times. It doesn't set a good precedent for other red mist Thai drivers.coffee1.gif

So is the DJ chappy still facing the driving and assault charges, or has he got off with losing his license for two months?

I saw the videos on telly and dangerous driving and attempted assault seemed pretty cut and dried.

What's the difference between ramming a car while reversing, compared to the second car rear ending the pickup? Are that saying this situation has nether caused a death, or the current situation could not cause death..

The guy uses a pickup to ram someone in anger, has his license suspended for two months. Luckily didn't kill anyone. Pick some wild mushrooms in the forest you can expect 15 years in prison. Something is seriously wrong in the land of smiles.

Say something against a particular person and get 30 years, overthrow the government and become a self appointed PM.

No, is all makes perfect sense. To someone!

In Thailand, absolutely. Traffic cops are allowed and in fact expected to try to find a settlement acceptable to all parties. It's only when they can't that the case will go to court.

Personally I think it's a good system. You attempt to settle things at an early stage, face to face between the concerned parties, and then there is no need for the time and expense of a trial. To people from hyper-litigious societies like the U.S. it might sound strange, but I think most Thais would agree that it generally works well.

Courts should hand out sentences; police should only enforce rules and arrest people

Two months ridiculous....he used his car as a weapon...where's the required mandatory anger management classes? He promises not to do it again...like a good drunk off the bottle

It boggles the mind how these "men" (I use that term very loosely) lie lie lie all the time, get caught & are treated like children by their peers. They promise not to do it again, apologise and on their way they go. Do they even have anger mgt classes here? That would be a good place to start for many of them

Farcical. Yuyee and the mushroom pickers each got 15 years. The stench of brown envelopes overpowering once again

'... car experts have viewed that the impact from ramming the truck in reverse gear could not cause death ... The DJ was shown in a witness’ video clip driving in reverse gear to ram twice at the Yaris car parking behind ...' So, which rammed which in reverse?

Amazing on TV that posters think rape is good punishment for crime - what is this, The Middle Ages?

The only problem is that the rich and famous gets of with murder (like the Red Bull heir or the 17 year old girl that killed 3 people and got a 3 year suspended sentence or the actress that drove into the back of a police vehicle killing the policeman) and the poor go to jail for much lesser offences (15 year for harvesting mushrooms in a national park). That's why the police can't be the prosecutor, judge and jury.

Not much of a deterant though!

If no one had caught it on camera, the Hi-so would have walked, the other guy fined and imprisoned.

Do they really think no one knows what is going on? A few months back a celebrity girl was caught with drugs, but even though they had the sample it was deemed "insufficient evidence" and she walked. A mushroom picker in state land was sentenced to a gazillion years awhile back. The red bull heir... And ON AND ON AND ON AND ON.

We are laughing at you. No wonder the rabble flocked to Thaksin.

They had nowhere else to go.

For the offender it works pretty well. He is deliberately breaking the law, again and again - does not work......

But let's see when he goes bonkers for a 4th time and seriously harms somebodys family on the roads of Thailand.

Remember, it could be your family.........

I wonder if he will abide by the ban? given many Thai drivers do not have the appropriate licences to to drive...

Just waiting for the first YouTube clip showing him driving while banned.
