meatboy
Can you imagine what the traffic will be like on that corner when T 21 opens? it will be a doddle, cutting across 4lanes of traffic,u-turns at the lights, baht buses stopping to drop off and pick up,a couple of intelligent traffic security guards with wistles will sort it out. Satcommlee
Korat is an up and coming city, this investment proves it. The better off Thais have same spending habits of those in Bangkok. Efforts are being made to ring road Korat with a major project diverting traffic from east to North being tarmac'd as we speak. Its not all about the farangs of course but we still lack things to do, ive lost count of how many times Ive been to the zoo... If the coffee shops dont want the farangs congregating then they would raise thier prices accordingly..

rice555
Hello All, I live off off of Hwy.226 close to where the new road is being built. Jan. 6, 2015 after the cleared the land for the overpass, last weeks pic's and one from Jan 5, 2015, that sign was up for over 2 years, there's a new one with a drawing of what that intersection will look like. The other sign I showing is for a bridge over an canal about a Km towards Cho Ha, the road comes in some place E. of Cho Ha. The pic of DoHome and the new Marko, about 400M from the end of DoHome is where the new highway intersects Hwy 224. Forgot, the view across the tracks(3rd.pic), Ubon is to the L. rice555

rice555
Wasn't there a projected Terminal 21 in Khon Kaen? What happened to that? Not enough water for ships. Today, front of The Mall, from the back. Looking towards to 21 from the same spot the second pic was taken. 21 on my way to The Mall. The Hyper Mart in The Mall sucks in the new mini version of what it was, less items. rice555
blueeyes
Too many shopping malls in Thailand. Terminal 21 should be finished by next Xmas. A new MAKRO out near DoHome. Central shopping Mall is slow. I heard Big C are going to build a new centre also but its only a rumor. The Mall is doing extensions including a ice skating rink. The traffic in Korat is a nightmare now one can only imagine what it will be like when all of the new malls are completed. The shopping malls in Thailand are a much need haven for aging farangs, Where else can they hang around, spend no or very little money and oggle the pretty young Thai women and girls like the old perverts they are? It's getting bad. When my eight year old daughter and I have reason to go to the mall in Korat, we play a game we call " Count the farangs'. In recent months, our count is getting into the 50s.in visits lasting less than one hour. Mostly old white guys lottering, staring and almost drooling at every attractive Thai girl. My daughter notices the staring as well, and it's getting embarrasing for me since I am an old white guy too! Younger white guys are pretty rare. White women ae very rare ( they count as two points in out game) Five years ago it was not too common to see farangs in Korat. Those days are gone. The increase in numbers is not so bad, but the lack of class and manners is disgusting.

DoHome side of Hwy.226. 4. the N. side of 226. 5. from the support pad(future) looking to the N. and 226. rice555

The on/off ramps of the RR from Hwy. 2 coming back from Pi Mai. and further up towards Korat as you go over the Ubon Line, looks like there laying another track. rice555 PS new Lotus in Pi Mai will open on the 21'st. Travel2003
Let us hope, for you good people in Korat, Your new Terminal 21 will be a bit better than the one in BKK, which is basically not much more than a pretentious version of Chatujak weekend market. Stalls after stalls with the same crap.

Thanks, our tuk tuk driver from The Mall was bending the wife's ear. We also got a medium large Lotus in Phi Mi, haven't seen it my self. One of the overpass over Hwy. 226 is about 5M from joining the two sides. rice555
rice555
Hello All, as of yesterday the N-bound lanes over Hwy. 226 is connected, you can see the framework for the S-bound in process. The first pic is on my way to The Mall, and on the way back 2 hours later. The working platform-forms they took down. rice555
