PHUKET: A New Zealand woman studying Muay Thai in Phuket died in a motorbike accident in Soi Ta-iad, Chalong, early this morning (Jan 23) after celebrating her victory in a local Phuket fight with friends.

Pol Maj Patiwat Yodkhawn confirmed that the Chalong Police were notified of the accident at about 2:30am.

One first responder at the scene told The Phuket News that it appeared the woman had missed a bend in the road, causing the Honda Zoomer X she was riding to hit the roadside tree.

The woman suffered severe head injury in the impact.

Although unable to locate a pulse, rescue workers attempted to revive her with CPR and rushed her to Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Very sad story, sounds like adrenalin was pumping too much; perhaps a drink or two caused these sad events. Difficult to speculate riding on a foreign countries instrument of death it would appear. Maybe just exhaustion + not enough rest through time zones caused the lack of attentiveness, really sad. Tourist continue to come to Thailand not understanding what these motorbikes can do - like end your life in a split stuff up or lapse in concentration.
not enough rest through time zones? how many do you think Thailand has, she lived here.

Keeper: Re-read the article again; if what you state is true she should have known better as should her trainer. Furthermore if this is correct, she has no mates seriously looking out for her best interests? There are 'a few' times zones between Thailand and New Zealand was my understanding, I don't ass-u-me anything as it shows ignorance. ACTUALLY, WHERE DOES IT MENTION SHE WAS A RESIDENT OF THAILAND? What is this fraternity doing about taking care of their 'colleagues'. I too have friends that fly in 'here', fight then fly home; so to study as reported means fighting? Oh dear what a sad sad story, why make idiotic argumentitive comments - what is you purpose? Simply to slander others over the death of a woman?

Tiger Muay Thai, where Ms Brown trained on Soi Ta-iad, posted on its Facebook page: “Ariana Brown first came to Tiger Muay Thai about a year ago for a new experience with no thought of fighting. Shortly thereafter she fell in love with Muay Thai, making her want to see how she would do in a fight.

“After a lot of hard training at the age of 43 she got to achieve her dream this past Friday night (Jan 22), coming out victorious by TKO in the 4th round. Tragically, Ariana passed away later that night.

“Ariana was a much loved member of the Tiger family who was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. All of us at Tiger Muay Thai are deeply saddened by her passing and send our condolences to her family.” -
