Sorry if this is in the wrong place, new to the forums.

I have recently travelled to Nakhon Pathon from Pattaya.Even thoughni use a navigation instrument i get lost in Bangkok.Does anyone know a reasonable route maybe skirting bangkok ? Thank you

Hi Oleander,

When I drive from Pattaya to Kalasin I usually take the 331 from Pattaya until it changes to the 304.

This will take me to Korat and from there I take Highway 2 to Khon Kaen and then the 12 till I get to my turn off.

This route goes nowhere near Bangkok and I find it quicker than going via Bangkok.

Also most of this route is duel carriageway.

I think he is talking about Nakhon Pathom ... it's west of Bangkok.

If Nakhom Pathom, my instinct has been confirmed by google maps. Take the 3097 from Nakhom, south until it meets Hwy 35 then follow 35 all the way until the end where it will go up the ramp onto the Bangkok Expressway system follow signs for Port-BangNa until the signs change to Chonburi then continue on the BangNa-Trat elevated expressway until the Chonburi by-pass and follow the traffic to Pattaya ending up on the Motorway #7 etc.

Do NOT go anywhere near Hwy 4 unless you like traffic. 338 will take you to Chinatown also to be avoided.

Too many Nakhon biggrin.png

Post #2 is it. You have to get to the "old" #34 (Bangna Trat) highway, NOT using #7.

Rds. #3, #34, #9, #338.

No real way to completely avoid (the southern outskirts) of Bangkok.

Rd. #9 is huge but still can be busy.

Depends much on time of day and day of week.

Might be worth considering leaving it earlier?

9 is OK but sometimes the queue on 34 to get onto 9 towards BangNa is large but yes if during evening rush hour 4:30-6:30 it will be better than the Expressway. All depends on the time of day.

Stay off 338, 4 and 9 north of 34. Traffic bad on 9 north of 34 as they are still building the Skytrain!

That's local knowledge worth a thumbsup.gif

Follow the signs.

Cheers.

Keep left at the exit to Route 9 (Outer Ring Road) from Bang Na - Chon Buri Expressway on the Pattaya side of Bangkok and then left again at Highway 338 on the other side of the city. Almost impossible to miss.

Hopefully this is the correct link for that route.
