Photo: Phuket PR Dept PHUKET: -- Deputy Prime Minister Admiral Narong Pipatanasai has called for Phuket officials to take heed of the Pracharat economic policy when making budget allocations to projects to ensure the best projects for the greater public good get budget support first. Deputy PM Adm Narong called for local officials to heed the new economic policy at a meeting during his inspection tour of the island yesterday (Jan 27). His call for local officials to follow the policy follows Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha announcing the Pracharat policy during his weekly address to the nation on September 25 last year. (See story here.) At the meeting in Phuket yesterday were also the Governors of the Andaman coast provinces of Krabi, Trang, Phang Nga and Ranong. Governors have been informed to follow the new economic policy Pracharat, which calls for all levels of government to exercise its power for the benefit of the people, Deputy PM Adm Narong told The Phuket News. The new policy will help solve problems effectively by having the people and the government working collaboratively. This way we are moving together in the same direction in solving any issues. Deputy PM Adm Narong also promoted the role of the Damrongdhama Centre (Ombudsmans Office). Briggsy Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 More vagueness and pompous names whilst the same system that has been in place for many decades carries on. Local strongman, his family and then his followers control the local economy, take a cut of all financial transactions, simultaneously extort, enrich and empower the local Sino-Thai businesses in a symbiotic corrupt relationship whilst chucking enough money up the national power and patronage networks to be allowed to stay in power.
jimbo34 Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 "....called for local officials the new economic policy...." And that would be what exactly?? Buffoons.
Srikcir Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 "solve problems effectively by having the people and the government working collaboratively." This is a hypocrisy coming from a government that resorts to absolute power under Article 44 to avoid working collaboratively. When a government operates under a policy of arrogance and disrespect for the law and human rights, it follows that its officials will follow suit.
houlicha Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 And where do they suggest the national policy line should be towed to?
Emster23 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 "....tow national economic policy line" out to sea and put on fishing and/or smuggling boat? As there probably in no line to economic policy, other than getting to trough, perhaps didn't know the word is TOE.
klauskunkel Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 tow, tow, tow the line gently down the stream merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream

Will Thailand operate under 5 year plans as the Chinese do. Maybe farm collectives after the farmers loose their land. One big rice bowl for the people and one big Sugar Bowl for the elite and the powers that be.
Nobb Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Very easy to see that these unprofessional officials will lose tea money. so sad that nothing has been done to stop these blood suckers.A little to late for many deaths. After two year this government finally wants to admit to there lack of safety for the people and tourist who want to fly i n Thailand. No respect or life but only money. Like this every where in Thailand . Very little OSHA safety standards. Be careful if you want to do these actions!

This is most evident in the sex trade. The north is kept poor for a purpose, to supply women to the sex trade in the tourist areas. The Thai elite exploit the Thai poor. I can't see this changing anytime soon, and there will never be equality and unity in Thailand until it does.
LivinginKata Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 <snip> The Thai elite exploit the Thai poor. Just the same all around the world ... not exclusive to Thailand.
