Immigration officials the world over tend towards the serious demeanour. I wouldn't have thought twice about it. I certainly wouldn't have got worked up enough to post a complaining thread about the look on someone's face.

It's a fast track service. You got through quickly. If they advertised it as 'smile track', you might have cause to complain.

If they had to correct / complete everyone's TM card it wouldn't be a fast track anymore

The fastrack line is never anything like as big a line as normal and the thing is I was the only one there, the next fastrack desk had 4 Chinese who hadnt filled in any forms, If I had been in the normal queue "maybe" a bit of disapproving frown from them but this was a real bad look and needed to add 1 digit to visa number to correct it.

Oh yes I got one digit wrong and admit it BUT if looks could kill.

There was no queue and I was holding up no one, I generally dont walk round smiling but then I dont walk round scowling either, she had little work to do, could understand it if there were 1000 people behind me.

To my left were 4 Chinese hadnt even filled in the forms at all and the other officer was going thru it with them with no surly face at all and most likely as there was no one else there she had the time to do it, the point being she didnt need the "attitude" she'd clearly got in my opinion.

So next time don't use the fast track, problem solved.

Yeah Ill line up with the other 500+ people that were on my flight for an hour or so

500+? they must have had some sitting on the roof. Was your flight from India by the way?

How many you think they seat on an A-380 ?

So you present yourself at the witching hour as "Premium" to immigration and present incorrectly filled out arrival card and require the immigration peons correct your mistake? Somehow can understand there might not be a smile. Did you have a smile?

Thai Immigration are THE surliest ignorant bunch I've ever come across. Why, in Singapore they greet you with a smile, and sweeties! smile.png

CORRECT I always feel welcome at Singapore, Thailand feels they are doing me a favour, I mean whats wrong with a "Im sorry sir your immigration form is missing some information" dont have to smile or scowl nobody's perfect all the time and w e all make mistakes.

Do you honestly think the Immigration officer gives a rat's arse whether you fly first class?

Well if TAT and immigration consult then "yes" as isnt this the type of person they want visiting I read they want "hi end" of course I dont know what their definition of that is ? although technically not a tourist these days as I have been here permanently 2-3 years but before off/on every 3 -4 months for 7 years and buying many condos. If they dont talk then they need to to give a good first impression to Thailand

Kanot, I think you are being a bit precious on this.

One immigration officer gives you a grumpy reception, because you didn't fill in your immigration card correctly (how many times a day does she see this I wonder?), and now it matters because you are the kind of visitor TAT want visiting Thailand.

Accept the truth, you are one in thousands of faces she sees every day, another one that hasn't filled his immigration card correctly and only one of millions of visitors to Thailand every year.

Don't dwell on it, there is nothing of importance in this event - Nothing.

Im not dwelling its just ive been sick for 4 days now and have nothing better to do all day between coughing my guts up and trying to stand upright without falling over, sadly my 6 day trip to HK was spent with 4 days in bed 1 day in temperatures of 1-2c coldest for 60 years so I was told and 1 day sightseeing.

Sure she will see millions but they are the frontline to visitors. Nope it aint important at all to me but currently nothing much else to do.

You should have said to her "Do you know how many condos I've bought", that would have sorted it!

Just sound like some guy trying to tell the world you flew first class. Should have left that out. Had nothing to to with the whinge!!!

Been here fourteen years already but couldn't believe how friendly everyone seems in Singapore compared to this junkyard of a country. Fair, decent pay makes a big difference I think. Thais are generally now a surly bunch.

So you turned up with your form filled out incorrectly, and the immigration officer helped you out by correcting it for you and then let you into the country?

Sounds like a good thing to me. And yet you're complaining because you didn't like the look on her face?

YES, helped me out is "stretching" it a bit and she wasnt what you'd call "overworked"

There was no need for the look she was giving out at all but as usual your "love" of Thailand and its people blinds you.

She did help you out.

It's not her Job to fix your mistakes.

I've seen Immigration officers tell people to go and

fill them out correctly.

BTW, I'm not condoning her "scowl", but you seem to think you

deserve preferential treatment because you arrived via first class.

You don't.

Don't know how many passengers the A380 takes but it's a lot.

Maybe if you hadn't spent all your money on a first class ticket you could have afforded a room in Hong Kong that came with heat.

Sights bloomin awful these days really gone downhill in the last 12 months dramatically for close distance, actually I should start a thread on the latest treatments available .................. you did realise i was shouting to him as he has the Thai death party next door dont you? link http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/890908-anything-i-can-do-about/

She was probably thinking 'First Class.. ......'.

I struggle to equate wealthy, high end visitor to premium class lane as you can buy a fast track pass for around thb 1500, unless thb 1500 baht these days is classified as wealthy

Maybe you caught her on the wrong time of month, she had a migraine or you`re not desirable to women anymore?

Go home, have a nice cup of coffee, watch a movie or something and put it all behind you.

You got through, no major hassle. Shrug it off and relax.

They're immigration officials - there to check passports, arrival cards, visas, etc. Very mundane stuff. They're not employed to "greet" tourists.

If you think the Thai immigration officials have surly faces, go check out their counter parts at the airport in Munich, Germany.

They have faces like a dog's @r$e.

Guess you missed that documentary about Swampy airport on some big channel, was it discovery channel?

There they all smile nonstop and even say "welcome to Thailand" to visitors entering the immigration.

In reality nobody has ever smiled or said anything to me, they are even too lazy to staple the immigrationcard to my passport and when i ask them to do it (because i will loose it of course) they even can't speak english and don't understand me!

But you got your negativ trollpost of the day again, congratulations!

They sure are employed to welcome visitors to come to Thailand, they are the first officials one meets when entering the Land of Smiles.....

I don't know about Germany but in my homecountry they have to say "goodday sir" and they all do it. That's what i call a developed country, it starts at the front door.

'Bangkok Airport', a fine BBC production. Good show.
