I recently moved out of CM city and live near central festival. I used the free shuttle from Festival to Orchid hotel.. Next door to ksk. To return to festival .. I asked a tuk Tuk driver.. 250 baht! Songthaew wanted 120. It is a "long way" compared to the 20 baht city rides. Question: what are normal.. Acceptable fares for such distances here in a songthaew? Other long ride fare information would be interesting too.. Cheers.

A few of the drivers are asking a lot more than they're supposed to. Maybe business is bad, and I'm often quoted 40baht of more from KSK down to Panthip Plaza.

I was charged 150baht (per person) in the middle of songkrahn last year, and there were eight of us going from Central Festival to Thae Pae gate. Things were very busy. Normally, I'd stand back and tell him to keep moving.

The number of Songtaews seems to have doubled in the past year, and it is a case of oversupply and the driver hoping you're a gullible tourist if not Chinese.

Masuk.. Yep.. I have it lived here a year.. And prices have varied.. A lot! Time to buy a 300,000 baht car... Thinking.. That's a lot of songthaew trips! For Out-of town.. I rent a friend of mines car.. Only 4,000 a week.

From Central Festival you will have the yellow Songthaews to/from Doi Saket and possibly also the Green Mae Jo ones on the Kaew Nawarat Rd side of that intersection.

You live outside of the city center, so that's where the regional colored Songthaews come in especially in the outbound direction.

Typically those end up near the Big Market (Kad Luang, often indicated as Talad Warorot on maps) so from other points in town that's where you connect, and is typically an easy 20 Baht fare to get there. So about 30 or 35 Baht total.

At night your up $#(*&'s creek without a Songthaew, though.

Buy a car. ( :) )

Thx Winnie.. Yes.. The yellow "bus" is great value! But oftentimes.. In both directions.. They are full.. Very full! Is it OK to flag down a yellow bus.. Anywhere.. Or only at designated stops?

Take a songtaew to the bus station, walk across the street, 20 baht.

Whee! Thrill seekers! :)

Exactly WTK.. I am on the same corner as festival.. So going to or from the arcade bus station.. Takes away my breath.. Not in a good way.!
