Rules for Early Vehicle Registration

Featured Replies

I'm getting ready to make a trip abroad....undetermined length of time......the registration on my truck expires in April. Does anyone know how early I can reregister?

90 days. I just had mine registered and it was due April.

Anyone can do the registration for you - they will need your ownership book and compulsory insurance. Depending on age - over 7 years, you will also need a vehicle inspection report. When I was renewing my 5 year Thai Driving License last September, I did a favor for my Thai friend and registered his Honda Civic for him at Banglamung (Pattaya) Land Transport Office - showed the documents at info desk, received queue number, went to window when called, paid the amount requested, they updated the ownership book for the road tax payment and provided the new registration sticker - no questions, no requirement for identification.

Three months.

But if you are late the fine is 1 baht per month for a bike probably a bit more for a pickup.

Can be three years late. No problem. You just have to pay a small fine, and bring along the blue book and compulsory insurance.

I had to buy some compulsory insurance and paid 600 baht.. what does the compulsory insurance cover?

30 day in NongKhai
