PHUKET: -- Cries for help late at night by 3-year-old Jessadaporn Chaiyo, better known as “Nong DJ”, were mistakenly ignored and the lost child was chased off days before he was found, police revealed to The Phuket News (Feb 11).

Nong DJ was miraculously found in hillside jungle several kilometres from his family home six days after he was last seen by his family. He is now recovering at Vachira Phuket Hospital.

However, Pairoth Thepabuth, 60, who farms the fruit patch and lives under a lean-to about 50 metres from where Nong DJ was found, said he saw Nong DJ walking near his shack on Saturday afternoon (Feb 6), said Wichit Police Chief Col Kittipong Klaikaew revealed.

“But he thought Nong DJ was a boy from a Myanmar camp only 100 metres away, plus he was afraid his dog would bite the child, so he chased him away,” Col Kittipong said.

Also, at the time, Mr Pairote had no idea that any child was missing in the area, he added.

Those pesky 3 year olds, you got to chase em off or there will be more the next day. whistling.gif

And I can't remember the last time I heard anyone from the village concerned that their dog might bite a kid. It's a dog eat kid world out there and you got to figure it out for your self.

Guess he thought this 3 year old baby was just some Myanmar scum. Best to chase it away like vermin.

Sadly these people are not shy about being racist or insensitive to people that aren't Thai.

If it was a dog that he found, he probably would have given it food.

Shame on you Pairoth Thepabuth!! angry.pngangry.png

And shame on everyone on here who refuses to look at the full picture and is having a go at this man. He had reasons to do what he did and he was unaware of any missing children.

Reasons for a Thai farmer to chase away 3 year old boy in a jungle

1: He might be from Burmese camp

2. My dog might bite

All very valid reasons - Amazing Thailand!

Yup, sad isn't it? Why not tie the dog up and go and help the child? I would think that Buddha would have taught to help the child regardless of race/religion!

I agree pathetic pathetic reason. Its not like the boy was a teen, even though it might be 100 meters away from the camp, it is very easy for a child that young to get lost in the jungle. Farmer has no valid reason for chasing away a boy. The very least he could do was tie up the dog and go check why the boy was alone away from the camp.

We might not know the full story, such as perhaps he sees the boy so often that he assumes the boy always know his way back....

You guys are really quick to judge huh. What should have the farmer done? who knows his situation. Maybe he was busy and concerned for kids safety best to chase him away rather than have dog hurt him .Not everyone in the world has free time to mother every passing person on their property. How was he chased away?

Using the words chase away might have been" Go home kid before my dog bites you". I have heard that before in the great civilized worlds you guys come from.

you guys are so anti thaI cannot believe it.

Seriously, the child is 3 years of age, in the jungle, and unsupervised, and you condone the farmer's actions.

Don't judge this old farmer if u never walked in his shoes NKM. It's a totaly different life in fruit or rubber land then in your condo in patong. I lived this way for some years and it's not a nanny state life. Burmese and also their small children steal in the night time like hell. Only the parents are to blame for what happened to the kid and no one else.

there is a (Burmese) camp quite near - so no reason to wonder why a little boy passes by

it is good reason to chase the boy away if he has a dangerous dog that could harm him

thinking the boy was Burmese is NO reason to chase him away

change topic:

in other threads I read the boy was found close to his family home ?

- What to believe?
