BANGKOK, 24 February 2016 (NNT) - Bangkok’s Metropolitan Police Bureau is preparing to move power poles and traffic islands from Central Ladprao Shopping Center and along the outbound road to Phahonyothin Road in order to increase traffic lanes and alleviate congestion during the construction of the BTS extension project from Mor Chit to Saphan Mai.

Acting Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau Pol Lt Gen Sanit Mahathaworn, along with related authorities, inspected the construction site of the new extension route to assess the traffic implications of the project.

Pol Lt Gen Sanit revealed that the traffic islands had reduced traffic lanes, resulting in congestion. Authorities would therefore increase traffic lanes by temporarily relocating power poles and trees on the traffic islands that divide the area’s bus lanes along the outbound Phahonyothin Road to in front of Central Ladprao Shopping Center. The move is scheduled to commence next week and is expected to contribute to the alleviation of traffic congestion during the construction period of the new BTS line.
