PATTANI, 28 February 2016 (NNT) – Security groups in the southern border provinces have convened a meeting in Pattani to discuss a campaign aimed at fostering ties between locals and security officials.

Participants included military and police officials, personnel from the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC) and others from the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC). Spokesman Maj Gen Banpot Poonpian said the relevant bodies met to brainstorm ideas for crime prevention and suppression and PR strategies for the peace campaign.

Maj Gen Banpot Poonpian commented that the media plays an important role in developing public understanding and participation in the peacekeeping operation. The ISOC spokesman added peace would return to the southernmost provinces when the local people and state officials cooperated fully with each other.
