Advice on transferring large amounts from Thailand to Europe?

Featured Replies

Hello,

My Thai wife and I are moving back to Europe. We are selling our house in Thailand. We would like to transfer all the money n her account from the sale of the house to my account in Europe.

Does anyone have had a similar experience? I would like to know which is the best way to transfer big amounts of money (more than 1 million thb) at the minimum cost.

The cheapest way is to transfer money via the bank using a SWIFT 'normal' transfer to your bank in the UK

Cost is inexpensive, around B 500 to 1000

Last time I talked to Bangkok Bank transfer around GBP20000 / BAHT 1M without documentation was not a problem

If you have evidence of monies being transferred into Thailand, there are no issues sending money out

I would suggest you get the money transferred in GBP in Thailand

The bank will give you the FOREX rate and the cost of the transfer..

At the receiving bank in the UK, you may pay a small cost GBP10

Stay under the 10.000 per transfer , if you don't want to be flagged for the taxman.

Bad idea. Doing that to avoid tax is a crime. It is called "parcelling" or something and attracts a custodial sentence.
