Labor Ministry to raise awareness of Thai employees' values

BANGKOK, 11 March 2016 (NNT) - Labor Minister Sirichai Ditthakul has instructed all ministry officials to proactively raise the public awareness of Thai employees' values as skilled and competent workers, said the ministry's permanent secretary Puntharik Samiti.

Skilled Thai workers are considerably demanded by many countries such as Jakarta which is needing more than 23,000 Thais and South Korea where a large number of Thais are also demanded.

The ministry permanent secretary added that the a meeting will be held among government officials to discuss amendments to existing laws and regulations to accommodate the ratification of the International Labor Organization’s 188th Convention concerning employment in fishing industry.

Jakarta is a country now? I wonder if the Indonesians know this?

Indonesia has a large number of people who work overseas, they have an improving school system and they speak a language that is not Thai. Why would they need Thai workers?

As far as I know, they don't speak Thai in Indonesia

Maybe because they will do work that Indonesians won't do.

The same way as the Burmese doing work in Thailand that Thais won't do.

I wonder where Indonesians go to work?

They don't get taught, say welding, at school. At least don't get qualified for it. And yes, certified Thais are in demand for this in SE Asia.

Not everything is about education in the real world.......................wink.png

Yes I mean what more there is to say.

Competent employees of value are already known and found by companies, no awareness needs to be raised.

5 star luxury hotels in Thailand are hiring Filipinos.

Later today I will go to the bank, the girl there at the counter asked me if I could teach her how to speak English while she is taking a break from Line and Facebook.

This is what Thailand needs, foreign companies in Thailand offering training to university students. I did a year out at a company during my university days, I got insight and hands on training which helped me a lot in gaining good employment after uni.

Here's the link to Bosch a German firm offering similar help to Thai students:-

The GTdee program provides high-potential Thai technical students the chance to attain both practical and theoretical knowledge and skills at the same level as students in Germany. The three students who received their awards worked weekdays at Bosch Thailand’s Packaging Technology in Chonburi, while on weekends attended classes at

E-TECH.

“We are very proud to be a part of the GTdee program, which is producing highly skilled and dedicated workers who can help Thailand’s economy generate higher valued added goods and services,” said Joseph Hong, Managing Director, Bosch in Thailand. “Bosch Packaging Technology has invested significant resources in the program, and incorporated our own Bosch Mechatronics Apprenticeship Program (BMAP) under the GTdee umbrella. In addition to the three students who were awarded their certificates today, Bosch has another six students currently engaged in the program and we are looking at the possibility of expanding our participation further.”

All of the participating students at Bosch are treated as regular employees and receive the same salary and benefits as other associates in similar job categories. Additionally, students who successfully complete the program have the opportunity to continue to further their career at Bosch, if they so choose.

Traditionally, going back decades, the Labour Minister earns huge kickbacks from the sending of Thai workers overseas. It is one of those Ministries that are seen as earners and very competitively lobbied for and sold by the party fixer/PM of the day for a considerable price.

"[P]roactively raise the public awareness of Thai employees' values as skilled and competent workers..."

That already sounds like a nice line of propaganda.
