maewang99
can we really describe the Baht as "strong" versus the dollar? they don't even try that on MSNBC, do they? and that's a TV show. it never even ever recovered to 20, where it was before Tom Yung Gung..... let alone adjusted for US trade and fiscal deficits that came in since then when it was 20 to the dollar. further evidence: even the Euro is still hanging above parity today notwithstanding more and more QE and negative rates. when the Thai Baht is in the teens.... "strong against the dollar" will begin to make sense in real conversation... until then it only fluctuates between various levels of very weak versus weak and weaker... on purpose. all you gotta do is pay for your own haircut and you know the baht is not at all "strong". $3 in the city... $1 or even less in the village.... and a decent one, usually, at that. half joking. but only half.
