BANGKOK, 18 March 2016 (NNT) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha will attend and co-chair the first Mekong – Lancang Cooperation under the theme of “Shared River, Shared Future” at Sanya, Hainan Precinct on March 22 - 24 2016.

Ms. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Deputy Director-General of Department of International Economic Affairs, said that Mekong – Lancang Cooperation would raise awareness and build cooperation on common interests, especially among countries that benefit and face challenges from the Mekong River. The cooperation hopes to discuss policies for concrete action in two years. Member countries, consisting of Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam and China, will shape the future of development in Asia.

The Prime Minister aims to discuss water management and poverty reduction using the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy of His Majesty the King. He plans on proposing cooperation in six areas, namely public health, agriculture, education, ICT, special economic zones and the environment.

Gen Prayut will also participate and deliver a keynote address at the Boao Forum for Asia on March 24.

They've got Prayut on a travel binge going to all these obscure coordination gab-fests. Good. Limits the damage.
