rooster59
Thailand Only: Three year old twins get married, make amazing recovery from illnessThaivisa ReportersImage: ThairathPATTHALUNG:-- Two three year old twins "got married" in the south of Thailand on Friday after their "incredible" recovery from illness stunned family and neighbours. The ceremony, attended by hundreds of locals in the Patthalung area of the deep south, featured all the trappings of a Thai wedding - such as the traditional gifts for the nuptials and even a dowry of 150,000 baht for the hand of the female twin in marriage! This tradition is something seen from time to time in Thailand when a family is struck by misfortune of one kind or another. In this case the mother, Chayanan Saramolee,36, had fallen sick while carrying twins and was constantly ill. After the birth of her children - Thorfan and Marwin, born three minutes apart - the children too were constantly in and out of sickness for a long period. It was decided to arrange a mock marriage between the two and, according to the father, as soon as this was done everyone recovered as if by magic.Father Suthep Saramolee, 37, said: "After we arranged for the kids to marry all the illness disappeared. It was incredible! We wanted the marriage to go ahead to make everyone in the family feel happy."Now I believe that everything will be fine. The children will grow up healthy and be good citizens for sure."The practice of twin brothers and sisters 'marrying' isn't actually uncommon in Thailand. Some superstitious parents believe that twin brothers and sisters were lovers in a previous life and 'marrying' the children will help to bring good luck and ward off evil spirits.Last year, a couple in Chainat arranged for their four year old twins to be married because they believed that if they didn't, the children would die at the hands of evil spirits. -- 2016-03-

NongKhaiKid
Is this the Thainess the govt insists the nation should be practicing and the Minister of Tourism / TAT call on tourists to come and experience ? thesetat2013
Is this the Thainess the govt insists the nation should be practicing and the Minister of Tourism / TAT call on tourists to come and experience ? Models at auto shows are told to cover up but it's ok to put children through a marriage ceremony because of supernatural needs It begs to wonder who paid the 150000 dowry. With all that extra money it's no wonder the kids got healthy. Better food and medicine could be Boughy. As for TAT! If they really wanted to get tourist here to experience the way culture was in the past then they should go a little further in the past and allow those pretties to be topless

thai3
'Last year, a couple in Chainat arranged for their four year old twins to be married because they believed that if they didn't, the children would die at the hands of evil spirits.' This sort of nonsense needs to be ridiculed if the country is ever going to get into the 21 st century. It's not cute, not quaint or charming- it's just stupid, backward and primitive and belongs in the past.
