Giving birth in Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi, I will be moving to Chiang Rai in July and Im due in September. Can anybody please recommend or suggest any OBGYN and hospital to deliver? it can be outside of Chiang Rai.

I have midwife here in the US and was planning to do natural birth (meaning no anesthesia or c-section).

I heard good things about Bumrugrad International hospital in bangkok but that is quite far from Chiang Rai.

Any suggestions or recommendations please?

Do not expect a birth experience such as you might have had in the States.

I can not make any specific recommendations, sorry.

AFAIK need to go to Chiang Mai to get a doctor supportive of natural childbirth

Dr. Suppachai Sirisukkasem at Chiang Mai Ram appears to be the go-to doctor for this. I have also heard mention of Dr. Supreeya Wong-gnan at Sripat.

Be sure to get in touch with Lori Rowe http://www.thewellintl.org/eventlog/2015/2/21/staying-healthy-in-chiang-mai and get a copy of her publication "Giving Birth in Chiang Mai".

a lot of my wife's friends from Europe and US gave birth at Bumrungrad and Samitivej, all said it was a much better experience compare to if they were to give birth back home. The after care is superb.
