Thai/Western Cultural difference

There are many things that Thais dislike about "western culture" and the attitudes that are there prevalent. Neglect of the elderly, unintelligible family structures, the insouciance and insolence of children, confrontation in both business and domestic life, lack of appropriate deference, impatience, irreligousness, an unawareness of other cultural expectations, particularly Thai ones, a western preference for privacy in daily life rather than openness....you can go on. Of course most of it can be dismissed by Thais as "farang behavior".

We have been trying to find phrases that would encapsulate similarly that unique stance in the world that is characteristically Thai and that often irritates us!. Never mind Thainess which is an ideological construct. It is that almost all embracing attitude that is encountered continually. We are not doing very well! Self regarding disregard, confident disregard, fundamental or innate self-centredness, ingrained loyalty, personal dissonance-by which there is an attempt to reconcile selfishness, buddhism, and citizenship. Help us out?Na?!
