I went with my son this morning to Prominada to extend his visa exempt.

UJ had advised me that immigration wanted only photos with a blue background. Ok, done.

Then the guy in front of us at the check-in was denied using his photos with a white background.

I heard the competent official clearly state. "It must be blue".

By the strangest and most unbelievable coincidence, the photo shop right next door HAS A BLUE WALL FOR PHOTOS! Really lucky for that guy I'd say!

I've always wondered why a blue background? Maybe it's easier for them to photoshop your mug onto future crime solving mugshots?

Just joking....

Just used a white background one for a residency cert there last week....

But - had passport pic's taken there as it was convenient (visa due soon) and wondered about the blue background....

Note also that they want a specific size - NOT normal passport photo size, but larger. So that's another excuse to refuse photos.

I was lucky that I already had a bigger than the usual PP sized pic with blue background, but then they refused to accept as part of my supplementary documentation, a black and white pic of me and the missus in front of our home - had to be in colour! (I of course did not bother to remind them that this pic is not even mentioned in their list of required documents.
