Traffic task force set to help people in the great Bangkok Songkran getaway

BANGKOK:-- A huge task force of police and land department officials has been mobilized in the area around the Northern bus terminal to help with traffic at Songkran.

Around 5000 have been brought in to help ease the great getaway of the public in the period from last night until the 12th in particular and then later in the return to Bangkok lasting until the 18th of the month, reports Thai News Agency.

They are concentrating on roads emanating from Mor Chit 2 terminal and especially in Lat Prao and Viphavadee Rangsit road.

Action will be taken against motorcycle taxis who do not have permission to be in the area, taxis overcharging or refusing fares and officials will be providing extra portering services at the bus station itself helping people with bags to ease traffic problems.
