To measure the degree off "happiness" within a Farang/Thai" marriage by counting the years the marriage has already lasted is not of much use. Because:

- Still today, for Thai-Females, a major factor by choosing a husband is still "will he be a good provider or not". Generally, Farangs make good providers, right?

- The full brunt of the "Cultural-Difference", comes only into full effect when "the good provider" should turn into a "liability" for whatever reason.

At this point, the duration of a marriage, measured in years, becomes completely irrelevant, from a Thai-Viewpoint.

Remedy: Never turn into a "liability" !

Expats: Hard to swallow, but we don't live in Kansas or Birmingham anymore.

I'm just going through the ending of something that turned out to be very unpleasant, but have a mind bogglingly wonderful daughter, a very nice supportive family and every intention of staying here in this amazing country. With fabulous, food, fashion, traditions and women. Although I am currently going out with someone from another country, if it works out I would want to live here with her. That seems a bit ridiculous but its just happened that way.

This is a fabulous place and I don't blame the country for the unpleasant experience I have had with one of their citizens. it had its good moments too. A lot of them.

I think its ridiculous for people to condemn a whole country because their marriage didn't work out. With something like a 50% divorce rate in many western countries, is it actually worse here? I don't think so. I know some absolutely charming, honest, hard working women here who would make brilliant wives and there are many happy couples.

There are also just too many narrow minded, bigoted, negative, people on TV, that can't wait to air their petty little frustrations. Most people that are reasonably happy, just don't have to gabble on about it. The negitive ones do so because they feel uncomfortable inside themselves and have to "air" their dirty internal washing for us all to smell in the breeze. Its a blogging hazard thing. A narrow minded mingers and whingers parade.

Sorry, I'm not angry about anything, I enjoy the cheap women, but once that urge has been satisfied I'm glad to get back to my homes in France and Spain, countries I really love. Good food and bread, cheap wine, clean countryside, sea and beaches. Thailand really is a second rate place, full of western men who don't have the money, sense or options to live in nicer countries. To be perfectly honest what fashion and what food?

After 43 years I was finally forced to start cooking myself because poster above you is absolutely correct. It's full of additives and is making me reflux 24/7.

I don't care about fashion, but my "hiso" Thai-Canadian ex used to buy her clothes all imported from China from so-called upscale street markets. Some of those outfits are cute and fit the Thai figure very well, but I highly doubt it's being copied b French and Italian designers. Most of that stuff is from alibaba

Many bad things happen to western men in western countries.

Plenty of whiners back home that will blame everyone and everything else for problems they caused themselves. Just expect handouts from their governments, blame said government again for problems they themselves really caused.

Call the ex a bitch even though she's still looking after the kids, struggling to make ends meet, he's trying to dodge child support whilst paying way too much rent to live by himself because no one else can stand living with him, even other family members.
