There are plenty of opportunities to contribute to the local society in some way, Michael. The first place to check would be at your nearest temple. They always have need of help. You could also check with a couple of organizations that do a lot of charity work: The American VFW, with the local post located on Soi 46, off of Sukhumvit; The Pattaya Sports Club, located on Third Road between Klang and Nua, does a lot of charity work; The Father Ray Foundation http://www.fr-ray.org/; The Jesters' Care For Kids Charity http://www.care4kids.info/ does a lot for Thai children. Finally, there are dozens of orphanages scattered around Pattaya, the largest of which is the Pattaya Orphanage http://www.care4kids.info/ . All of these charities are constantly looking for help of any kind.

Isn't a work permit required for charity work?

I my many years here I have found that quickest way to get over a girlfriend or wife is to find the next one. While doing that, the suggestions above are good and to which I can add getting out of town occasionally to a change of scenery works wonders for me even if is just the next beach area along the coast. A pet can help too. Many dogs offered on Facebook for sale sites. Good luck with it all.

The "Old Work Permit Chestnut" rears its head again........

What are they going to do.....lock him up......for showing that westerners "care" ....and are prepared to give their time to help others......

Dare they risk the negative publicity among ordinary good Thais, who will think his actions are great

Remember the guy at Rayong who swept the road.....Respectable Thais loved him

OP hope you feel better soon but if you're looking for "cheap", so you think Pattaya is the best place to go?

Since the OP is local to Pattaya, why wouldn't it be? The alternatives to slip away to a northern mountain retreat or a southern island getaway would certainly strain any imperiled bank account even more than just lurking in familiar surroundings.

What he says, if you lose your bike, get another one as soon as possible.

Or maybe just rent one for a while.

Yeah, out of the frying pan and into the fire.

IMO this is really bad advice and will lead to more of the same.

Activities in Pattaya besides drinking and girls?<<

I see little other reason to remain in Pattaya .If you want to cut out such things i would move to somewhere quieter like Bang Saray .

When mine left after ten plus years I filled her vacancy with a temp so she wouldnt come back........It gets easier with a little time and then if your lucky you realize your better off.....When a break up is fresh people can tend to dwell on all the positives or percieved positives and then mope...

I quit drinking. Started exercising and after about six or eight months managed to meet a great girl.......Thailand is still the best country to break up in.

OP hope you feel better soon many on the forum I assure you will have been in the same position as you at one point in life as I have. Time is a great healer even if right now you wont think so.

Get doing some activities swimming and cycling for health benefits and avoid too much of the demon drink as that just brings more problems in excess. Good luck
