Am looking at/thinking about buying a new Mitsubishi Triton double cab, my question is what do owners think of these trucks, good / bad/ average? Any feed back from owners or past owners would be appreciated

i had a 4 door Triton before my Pajero.which is almost the same.

Loved the car and engine, lots of power.

Mileages is about 10 km on a liter.

The new Triton model is very nice.

i would never by the new Pajero , what an ugly car that is.

Go for it.

Good luck

All the trucks here are fine. Take it for a test and see what you think.

Just don't drive a Ranger Wildtrak after you buy your Mitsu or you'll be upset.

hahahaha Like this, The Ranger Wildtrack is a good looking truck and after your comment I will need to have a test drive of one. I like jap cars as they just keep going and reliability is what I like in a car. Mind you the top bosses at Mitsubishi are not to happy over the scandal that broke yesterday about rigging fuel tests.

I bet they're all doing it in differing degrees. Same with the diesel malarky.

If you can deal with the styling of the new Triton, it offers a lot for the money. Behind the wheel it's not as accomplished as some of it's rivals, but that's really only highlighted in side-by-side tests, in isolation it's a decent driving truck - about as good/bad as the Hilux from my POV. The top spec model has the best 4x4 system* out of all the current pickups, and is the only one which has 4 doors and can be used as full-time AWD.

The new 2.4L engine has been in the field since 2014, and there doesn't appear to be any recurring faults of note, but that's not really long enough to establish long term reliability.

If the styling is a real sticking point, it's possible to graft the front end of the Pajero sport onto it, which looks quite sharp. Unfortunately the cost of "fixing' the styling isn't cheap though.

*The Ranger short wheel base is advertised as being available with the AWD Terrain Management System, but it's hard to buy and it's only on one single cab, low spec model.

wow this is a great review and appreciate your thoughts, I did drive my brother in laws Triton in New Zealand in the Mountains and it performed well and is part of the reason I am wanting to buy one. I like the looks of the Ranger. To be honest I will not be working the truck hard, just around town and once a week into the hills to see the inlaws, mind you where they live it is not smooth riding.

After looking at the Chevy, Isuzu and Nissan I am starting to warm to the idea of another Mitsubishi. I am figuring the aftermarket industry will soon have a decent grill to mount in place of the factory abomination.

The body work behind the extra cab looks better now without that strong curve.

We don't haul may people around so a Mega cab would do the trick!

I like the curve, it's what makes it instantly recognisable.

Before buying a Mitsubishi you might want to see how their emissions scandal is going to play out - they're already lost 40% of their share price.

they will recover from this, similar to VW. Important is that you like the product and make the right decision based on that.

I thought it was fuel economy figures that were fudged.

It was their economy figures, over pumped the tyres to get better results. There is always something happening, remember Ford and the unsafe fuel tanks and also I think Lexus and the cruise control getting stuck and going faster and faster, now that is a scary one.
