webfact Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Deputy PM satisfied with 6-month performance of policeBANGKOK, 22 April 2016 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has acknowledged the achievements of the Royal Thai Police over the past six months, lauding the agency for maintaining public safety and suppressing human trafficking.Gen Prawit was led by National Police Chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda on a tour of an exhibition showcasing the agency’s operations and progress made within a six-month period in such areas as the eradication of human trafficking and transnational crimes, provision of safety for tourists and maintenance of national security. The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed he was satisfied with the police’s work, pointing out that they have been hard at work to keep various situations under control and to fulfill the goals of government policy. He noted that the fight against crimes and human trafficking in the fishing industry has led to the prosecution of many cases as well as the submission of progress reports to the United States.Regarding the southern unrest, Gen Prawit encouraged the police to continue to work with the military and local administrative officials in protecting lives and facilitating the ongoing peace dialogue. He also affirmed the government’s readiness to give them both technological and financial support to ensure further improvements.-- NNT 2016-04-22
Reigntax Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 The commissions have met budget targets and all crimes by the elites have been ignored or sufficiently covered up! Well done the RTP!
Winniedapu Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 The little dumpy fella giving himself a pat on the back is he? Impressive.
Khun Han Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 They haven't done any major stitch-ups since the Koh Tao debacle, so that has to be an improvement.
leeneeds Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Permeated with bull disregard for the traffic dead
Eric Loh Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 The little dumpy fella giving himself a pat on the back is he? Impressive. You miss out dopey.
scorecard Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Easily satisfied then. Guess progress on the merc case, the red bull case etc., must be outside of the assessment.
Emster23 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 If you have no expectations, you'll never be dissatisfied.
Rykbanlor Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 This is is gonna be a bit of a spanner in the works for all the Junta fans who reckoned the Army were were going to be the initiators of change and the destroyers of corruption.
WhizBang Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) Wow, Prawit must have VERY low standards. I swear, all these government agencies must spend more time putting together all these back slapping dog and pony shows, than they do actually doing the job they are being paid to so. DM07 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 And why not? It was only the most bloody Songkran in years! All hail, Thai- law enforcement!
Partenavia Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 In Chiang Rai the only time you see any police are when they are escorting someone who thinks they are important. Oh yes....maybe twice a month when they are checking people wearing helmets, but they do keep "gentleman's hours" which are 9 - 1130.
Jimbo2014 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Good to see the quota in bribes and extortion money being met. Well done lads. ?
sanukjim Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 That is 6 months performance with the military's prodding them to do their job. With the military you would not see one tenth of the arrest or bar raids.
mrrizzla Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 On a year where the death toll numbers over songkran broke records? Also "we don't know" where the other 15 odd BKK bomber suspects went? You always here that the army and police don't get on, I think it is the opposite actually, they seem quite happy to scratch each other's backs.
Baerboxer Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 This is is gonna be a bit of a spanner in the works for all the Junta fans who reckoned the Army were were going to be the initiators of change and the destroyers of corruption. Are you insinuating that the RTP are in dire need of complete reform and that the total lack of action from Uncle Too clearly demonstrates that all talk of fighting corruption is just <deleted>? What a preposterous accusation!! No action - on the contrary the Army have been given powers of arrest; the Army and Navy "accompany" the police when carrying out certain raids or investigations; and several high profile cases, involving the wealthy, well connected, have been allowed to sort of fizzle out and disappear off the radar. So if the police are now doing such a sterling job, how come the military are taking an increasing role in police activities? And how come all those cases involving rich well connected people are again going nowhere except round and round the garden? I guess being satisfied is dependent on what your expectations were in the first place!
Srikcir Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 The RTP couldn't strip Thaksin of his police rank. Prayut had to do it by invoking Article 44.

I did see one on a motorbike this morning. I must enter him in my bird watching book.
LannaGuy Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Junta sets themselves very low targets then fails to achieve them
Praematura Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 If he is satisfied, well that's good enough for me... Lol[emoji8]
Dumbastheycome Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 More unsubstantiated propaganda from the NNT. Expecting a copy of the report were you?
dhream Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 If you have no expectations, you'll never be dissatisfied. 'No freakin idea' seems to be the expression on his face as the senior plod says, "OK boss, let me take you through the gravy train schematic we had drawn up for you one more time..."
BigBadGeordie Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I wish you would all stop knocking the RTP, they were formed in 1933 and I am sure since then they must have done "6 months good work", or may'be not.
dhream Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 The Army and Navy are there to make sure they get their cut of the tea money. They've been missing out for years, on boats and in the jungle and all for years, fighting the war on common sense, I mean, drugs.
