EC endorses three referendum bills

BANGKOK, 26 April 2016 (NNT) - The Election Commission of Thailand (EC) has endorsed three bills regarding the establishment of the public referendum on the draft charter, which will be held on August 7.

The three bills determine the referendum's framework, its funding, and what is considered appropriate discussion of the draft charter and its referendum on mainstream media.

These bills are set to be officially promulgated in the Government Gazette tomorrow. The EC will also decide which actions constitute a violation of the referendum on Friday.

According to the commission, the public can organize an open forum on the draft charter, as long as it is being monitored by the government, the media, and an educational institution.
