The Toyota Fortuner is a piece of Junk. It's a Pickup Truck with a passenger body! I ask friends who bought one "why" and they said everyone has one!

DELETED They all make the same mistakes!

what brought that little outburst on?

It annoys the hell out of BMW and Merc owners when you suggest they're driving a german taxi. thumbsup.gif

Not one bit to be honest. Why would it bother anyone that the car they chose is used as a taxi somewhere in the world?

Perhaps you'd like to think they'd be bothered. That for some reason you'd like to get one up on them.

EEeooooooeee! Touched a nerve, have we?

Not at all, I just find it amusing that people think it would touch a nerve.

After all, that's what the comment is all about. It is an attempt to goad people that have Mercs and Beemers because they are taxis in Germany, Netherlands and Denmark.

To be honest, whenever I've been to those countries, I'm happy to not be stepping into a Toyota Corolla.

Last week I went out in a two year old Camry, haven't been in a biggish car since l have been here,I was very impressed on the ride quality and quietness of the thing..thumbsup.gif

Rear coils for the Vigo then ?smile.png

Can be done quite easily, but puts the vehicle it a different tax bracket.

I have seen a number of Toyota pickups with the coil spring conversion. From the looks of the conversions, I'd bet it is very expensive.

Before I buy a car, I do countless hours reading reviews. Everybody has different taste, and different needs.

Here is a "Carbuyer" review of the old 3-series (2005-2011):

OK, but if we're doing reviews, what we really need is a comparison with a Ranger ;)

The only comparison I've seen mentions how the cabin in the Ranger is quieter than the 3 Series, but that's the current one not the previous one so I guess it doesn't count.

Are 'premium' car brands overrated?

it depends on what you compare it to
If wages in Thailand and car prices.
so not only "premium" car brands. Almost ALL car and many another thinks be overrated.
If Compare with price in some another country as UK/US ets... SAME
But if compare how much you can pay and your needs its be IMHO.
If compare with income from Thailand then you leave in Thailand AND HAVE money can pay for "premium" car brands and you need it so it NOT overrated.

to impress you its be easy. Just give you cart with buffalogigglem.gifcheesy.gif

No, I don't think the likes of Maserati, Aston Martin or Bentley are overrated. Things like merccedes, bmw, audi etc etc well they simply are not premium cars as far as iam concerned.

Since he is testing a 2011, that problem should hopefully be fixed years ago ;)

Well, with your reference point being a last decade Vigo, I would expect nothing else tongue.png

If we could get you into a Wildtrak or an Everest (40 hail Mary's just for the thought of it), the Camry would have been less impressive. If we could get you into a 7-series, you'd probably never want to see your Vigo again (that'll be another 40 I'm afraid) wink.png

A pickup trucks ride is more comfortable than a bmw 3 series? or did your son mean the space is cramp that it is why its uncomfortable?

I personally don't think premium car brands are overated, there are more safety features, gadgets, and luxury touch to it. But a lot of it is up to owners preference as well. Having own both a 3 Series and Accord. Even though I like how 3 series drive and more premium touch, I still prefer my accord. Why? simply because the space it offers, it doesn't drive as well and such, but it doesn't bother me that much, you get use to the way a car drives. What matters more to me is the comfort and not feeling cramped.

What does a 3 series BMW have that a Honda Accord doesn't......??.

easier to list that do not have - compare with Inspire.

If with 3 series list be so long

main is:

handling

acceleration

individual spec.

quality interier

There's one thing the Accord has that a 3-series doesn't.

Active noise cancellation.

Because Honda still haven't figured out how to make a car that's inherently quiet wink.png

Seems the humble Benz & Beemer is not getting much love here on Thai Visa.

You have to wonder why people hold such a grudge against them and their owners....

I know we drive a little fast on the motorways but it's not intentional, 160kmh in a Beemer feels like 60 in an Accord.... gigglem.gif

I bet the new 7 Series is a cracking car but only owners of government contracting companies could afford one here.

Buy a 2nd hand. The prices are falling like the twin towers did during 9/11.

Wow. A 9/11 joke. TVF always amazes me.

Not much difference to what it used to be in Sweden when I lived there.

It's not a joke. It's some seriousness behind it. But that's for a different fora.

Yes!! People don't realise that the home market has basic work-horses and the high-end versions are exported to countries where high import duties can only be justified if the buyer thinks he is getting something special.

a few years ago now in France I had to organise a hire car for an American customer - at the time it was going to be a large top of the range Renault or a Citroen - I thought the American might find the XM interesting.

Anyhow on arriving at the garage to pick it up, I was told that the Renault/Citroen weren't available nd would he make do with a Merc?

My customer was over the moon...that night at the hotel he went on and on about it to everyone how he's been upgraded to a Merc.......I just kept quiet....then he eventually turned to me and said

What, d'you recon? upgrade to one of the best car makers in the world?"

I replied - "Well, they make good taxis" - that shut him up for a bit.

i've said it before and I'll say it again....I'll never be old enough to buy a Merc.

Yes and they make fine truk , good and comfort buss.

Have cheap minibus(made in poland)

And many another.

So what?

PS

best not best

but its sure better when new siutroen or renaultrolleyes.gif .

If i have choice i am too choese in same class and condition merc and sure not renault..
