Trump jokes about protest in California

post-247607-0-00367100-1462026017_thumb.

Hundreds of demonstrators attempted to disrupt a Republican convention in California on Friday where presidential candidate Donald Trump was due to appear.

Protesters surrounded the entrance to the hotel venue in Burlingame forcing the billionaire businessman to enter through a rear entrance from a nearby freeway. True to form, Trump made light of the incident in his speech:

“That was not the easiest entrance I’ve ever made. My wife called. She said there are helicopters following you and we did, and then we went under a fence and through a fence and, oh boy, felt like I was crossing the border actually.”

After the event Trump again left by the back door. It was the second day of protests in a row against the Republican front-runner in the race for the White House. Earlier this week he referred to himself as the ‘presumptive’ nominee.

This tie with Crooked Hillary Clinton will soon be hugely in our favor- when I secure the GOP nomination. pic.twitter.com/kDTWHJzRSf

But his seemingly unstoppable progress has angered many people and sparked protests across the country wherever he appears.

His campaign abandoned a rally in Chicago last month after clashes between supporters and protesters.

Exactly, such a good point. Why waste countless billions on a stupid fence (or wall) when people can just go under or around it? A high percentage of all undocumented people that they are trying to prevent from coming in, actually arrive by plane, bus or other more tradition means, NOT by foot. So why build a wall that won't address and fix the majority of the problem?

Keep fear alive!!! Don't let the facts get in the way.

He never said that he, or any other Americans were going to pay for it...

So as long as Mexico foots the bill, then let the wall go up.

China had one...and now it is making billions of dollars.

Nice investment.

Not quite sure if it will be possible to see "The Great Wall of Trump" from the space shuttle. Perhaps so...and many brown dots moving over it.

I could handle Bernie, but he doesn't have a chance against Hillary, as the democratic nominee.

Thank goodness,

that I am a Trumpeteer...all the way.

America would have been smart if they checked all the protesters to see how many were really legal in America. They are scared that Trump will send them home!

Trump may be a Presidential candidate but he will never become President. He is too divisive and brings out the worst in people. He places the race card constantly and will never get the African American vote or the Hispanic Vote In addition, if he were President nothing would change. He is of the rich and forthe rich. He doesn't really believe that lowering the taxes of the rich will help the poor and middle class. He would thow a few crumbs their way and still exploit them like all the other before him.

Real change for Americans would come from electing Bernie Sanders who would actually take huge amounts of money from the wealthy and re-invest it in higher paying jobs; a real national healthcare program; lower taxes for the poor and middle class; and no cost university education. All the other candidates including Clinton will do nothing for the American people. The American election is a sham financed by the wealthy to keep them in control of America and increase their bank accounts. However, Americans are starting to wake up- the support for Sanders is real. The Trump support comes from dissatisfaction based upon stereotypes that Trump is exploiting. He is the Flim Flam Man- a carnival barker who wants to sell you snake oil and the Brooklyn Bridge. Don't even think about buying.

The problem Americans will face is most likely a choice between Trump or Clinton. Trump is electable and will bring pure disaster to the Republican party causing a loss of both the House and Senate. Clinton is not much better but at least she is civil and will not embarrass the United States. If Paul Ryan- House Speaker could get the nomination for the GOP it would make for an interesting race. He actually could be elected. He is articulate; not overbearing; and knows the issues. The problem is that neither Trump, Clinton, Ryan represent any real change for the average American.

Posted

I doubt Bernie would run as an independent- He does not have the political or money machine he would need to do that and he could split the Democratic vote which might mean Trump would be President. He might accept a Vice Presidential offer from Clinton if she will bend to a few of his programs. That would give Clinton the young vote and force her to modify some of her positions. Whether this would mean any real change for Americans is unknown. It would depend largely on the makeup of the Congress and the cabinet.

Whoever the Democratic nominee is, they should be wary of Trump. He is no fool and has a huge, bought team, that knows how to win elections. He will change his rhetoric somewhat to appear more presidential and speak more softly and avoid controversy as much as possible. He is the consummate actor but he is not the solution to what ails America. It starts with money politic and without getting rid of that, change will be difficult. That is why the wealthy, big corporations, banks and the military industrial complex fear Sanders. He would go after all of them.

Since when have we been afraid of being embarrassed, overseas?

Ask around, most people outside the USA would say we been embarrassing ourselves for a long time.

1. Nixon gets the boot for Watergate

2. Ford Falling down stairs and tripping all over everything

3. Carter and his teeth (not to mention Billy and his beer)

4. Bush and his "Line of Death" (bad grammar too)

5. Regan falling asleep at International Events

6. Obama (that's bad enough by itself)

7. Trump ... well... deal with it.

Nobody needs Screaming, Lying Hillary...for Christmas sakes. And nobody cares if she looks more "Presidential or not"

............Not !

Walls consistently fix a majority of problems throughout history and currently. This is why nations of the world have and continue to build them, and they are used for prisons, etc. Walls/fences work and significantly channel resources. "Fences make good neighbors" is an inherited pearl for a reason.

The notion that a national border is futile because someone jumped a hotel fence is ridiculous logic. Its false analogy to link a hotel wall with a national border. Your point seems valid at first; its not. "Don't let the[se] facts get in the way."

No one has to insult anyone. We are all entitled to our opinion. Regarding Trump- I don't have to deal with him or any of them. I gave up a long time thinking that there would be any real change in America until there is a real revolution that finally destroys money politics and gives the poor and middle class a fair shot at the American dream. Only one candidate in my lifetime comes close- Bernie Sanders and unfortunately the very thing that he fights most against- buying elections- is what keeps him from the nomination. The rich and powerful are scared to death of him.

I liked his joke though smile.png and he will be president of the USA 2016-2024.

Funny yes. Not so sure he will be elected in the end, however. I long ago wondered how the will of the majority always seemed to be thwarted. Each of us, on the left and the right, point to the same forces behind politics that continues to inexorably shape America irrespective of the will of the people- it seems. Those who are acting out violently to thwart Trump are only those invested in what the status quo provide immediately (their needs), though not those who actually wield the power in the US. When those forces decide to act... if... then Trump will not have a no chance; jokes will not save the day. I agree with Kennedy's admonishment to America regarding this:

I do not endorse the title of this video, only the comment of the president.

it is true that walls have a purpose, the problem is that they are artificial barriers and as such are expensive to maintain. with unforeseen consequences. So if there is an undesirable condition ,one could build a wall to contain the condition, at a great cost, with unforeseen consequences, A stop gap solution Or one could identify the souses of the undesirable condition, implement solutions and for ever eliminate the undesirable condition , creating a win win situation. Simply put ,walls are solutions lacking in imagination. It is all the unimaginative, short term return, with no concern for unforeseen consequences, American policies in the Americas that have lead to this, I don,t think more of it is the solution.

Touché. However, the current problems that are central to Trump's appeal are not specifically the commission of adverse actions (and his response to this, a "wall") but the omission as well. While even the most primitive of walls requires upkeep, America's immigration system/wall is defined by an omission of following the laws, enforcing laws, ensuring the mortar remains pointed. In summary, America's existing mechanism for ensuring a national border have been deliberately thwarted. The "wall" does stand as a central rallying cry rather than "enforce the laws, damn it!" because one is concrete (literally and figuratively- a symbol), and the other abstract, non-specific. The "wall" resonates because it is visceral, an archetype of national threat and everyone knows this.

Artificial barriers only mimic what we see that works in nature, natural barriers. From human's earliest slugfest in mud to Hadrian's Wall to China to Hungry to ad infinitum, humans rely on walls because walls work; they do so in Queens and also Des Moines. Its hardly appropriate to muse about the unforeseen consequences of having a "wall" when the US is living with the immediate and existential consequences of not having one. However, our current problems are intended consequences, a determined effort to stymie national integrity. All one has to do to confirm this is peek into the protest crowds, their banners, their slogans, and their comments.

Without question, without a "wall" of mortar, bricks, cops, intel, digital, and consequences, America will not survive. Its simple math, observable in the artifacts of many dead civilizations.

Unimaginative? I do not think this issue calls for sages and seers or artists or prophets. It calls for a wall, a policy of pointing its mortar, and consequences for evading US immigration and border laws.

I dont disagree that there is a problem. As some one in the managing level of the construction industry in NYC, I am more than familiar with the problem. As a Union shop we find it more and more difficult to compete with non Union shops that use illegal alien , IMO if something is not done , Unions will be defunct in the next few years. It is a race to the bottom and it has already started. Will a wall fix that problem with out creating an other bigger problem?

I agree , we need barriers, It is the government's function to create protectionist barriers between fairness ans unfairness But, what we need is an imaginative barrier consisting of many aspects to address the complexity of the problem, rather than the unimaginative stop gap solution Trump proposes. I have no problem with figurative walls, Literal walls are an other story, Though cost effective in some situations, IMHO, not in this.

Fair enough. We agree on key points, differ on others. From Jamestown to Westpoint, from Wall Street to Yorktown, to the US/Mexico border for many years... walls are part of the human condition. In this case, its the abuse of not-wall, not-proper process, this makes "the wall" an issue. Its not monolithic; it does comprise other facets as you note. However, I maintain, America may already be a done deal, toast. The US will continue, for sure. But not with a contiguous connection to its history. Already the history is being revised, the traditions and mores compromised. America is being re-written in real time much the same way as the EU. To suggest this is coincidence or natural evolution is absurd. Its utterly contrived.

America will be change but it will not be the course of the national evolution of the state. It is the consequence of grand social engineering and the end is quite nefarious. In any event, this is the cord that Trump appeals to. I remain skeptical he will deliver, but he is touching the pulse.

Secondly the poor which I include in the 47% who pay not income taxes, would not pay less. The rich would start hiding their money and protecting it which would dry up any economic stimulus there might be for investing in new jobs which is at the root of the whole problem in the USA.

But no, everyone say's my guy is OK; he got me an appointment to West Point, or a government contract, or increase in social security, or a bigger subsidy for something I didn't grow, ad nauseum

It's always the other guys Congressmen or Senator that is bad, not mine
