I am a UK pensioner been visiting Thailand since 2008 and have been involved with this 51 year old lady from Ubon for the last 4 years. I visit with her for 3 months in the spring and 3 months in the autumn .we intend to get married in Febuary next year in Ubon .She has just got a 6 month visitors visa and we will be heading for the Uk on May 10th

My question ,as a pensioner what are my financial requirements to enable her to come and live with me full time in the Uk after we are married

I own my house without mortgage receive the state pension if £520 a month and a small private pension of £267 a month. Have average savings of £1200.

I also own a couple of houses I rent out.

Any help and advice would be apreaciated

You will be required to demonstrate either an income of £18600 per year or savings of £62500 or a combination of income and lower savings. (Page 46 below).

See: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/469692/Appendix_FM_1_7_Financial_Requirement_August_2015.pdf

Income can include rent from property (Page 40)

Sadly there are plenty that fall into asset rich, cash poor but there is no leeway allowed!

Lower figures are required if the sponsor is on certain benefits (page 14 of the requirements) where 'adequate maintenance' needs to be demonstrated.

Marriage gives you a bit of paperwork that ticks a few boxes. If unmarried you will need to provide evidence that you have been living in a relationship similar to marriage. Living together as a couple etc.

Registering the marriage with the embassy has been withdrawn. Was pretty pointless anyway. Thai marriage certificate plus translation will suffice!

If you are worried about the application then perhaps it will be worth using an agent. Thai Visa Express are forum sponsors and as far as I am aware offer a no obligation discussion!!
