How's the traffic in Pattaya right now (10.07)?

Featured Replies

I need to drive my GF to the bus station from the dark side, but if the traffic is too heavy she may be better getting a motorbike taxi. Anyone been along Sukhumvit this morning?

I don't have an answer for you, giddyup. But I do think that this would be a good thread to keep alive for question LIMITED to this specific question. Just requests for current traffic status; and responses from people with genuine, helpful answers. No complaints or suggestions about traffic enforcement, or changes to be made by the government. We can do that in the existing thread that's been so hot for the last couple of weeks. But here, just simple, specific traffic reports.

Agree?

Why ask, if in doubt, take motor bike.

^ Personal safety reasons?

Why respond if you only give a useless answer?

Yes, giddyup. That was precisely the kind of boorish comment I had asked people to refrain from posting in this simple, specific thread. But, sadly, boors will be boors.

sorry but your post makes no sense whatsoever, sukumvit is allways been a a disaster to cross. as for the rest of pattaya , its a mess !!

This site provides current condition for whole country - easy to see Pattaya (heavy traffic)

Looks realistic for this time of day.

Red, red and more red.

Will try this at a supposed low traffic time.

I recommended this site in another thread for it's live traffic cams from Bangkok.

Unfortunately not for Pattaya.

That's where I grabbed it - was surprised BMA site covered country and as enlarged found details on secondary roads would not even expect any reporting on.

The traffic is terrible, right now, trust me.

Brilliant, you can't be ar**d to take your Mrs to the bus station and want her to take a bike. Rather than tell her that you ask on here so you can show her, "look love every one say too mutt busy, better take motor sai, love you, come back soon x x "

Apologies in advance :) could not resist.

Quite the opposite. I wanted to take her by car, but if that meant being stuck in a gridlock for two hours it would be better to use a motorbike taxi, but don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Getting from the Thepprasit junction to Pattaya Klang is a nightmare at this time of the day, but according to the maps posted earlier the traffic between Klang and Pattaya Nua should be fine... Can anyone confirm?

longdo Monday 8 AM.... don't believe it.

But I do reckon the party is over.

When circumstances dictate and one is forced to do a cross-town drive during peak buggerization, try and avoid Sukhumvit at all costs. You can get from Theprassit to Klang much quicker by using Thep Soi 6 that turns into Khopai 4, then cross over Pattaya Tai onto Tai 16 (need to be a bit ballsy at that one!) and either go left at Chalermprakiat 18 onto Third (and onwards to Klang) or do a left-right-right-left at Chalemrprakiat 18 and come out on Arunothai that will bring you onto Klang at Big C Extra.... which is where you probably were headed in the first place, no? These are narrower roads but if your on a Scoopy or Click or even in a Honda Rollerskate or Toyota Mouse, it's relatively easy. I drive a big farkoff Ranger and even the totty, wee Mrs NL manages to navigate it without too much argy bargy.

If you're not familiar with being off the beaten track, there's always gps..

Thanks for that and forget Longdo.

I was asking about it and now know it's worthless.

The BMA site seems to show a much more realistic picture:

(just move/zoom to Pattaya area)

Ooooohhh... I see buses!

Well it's f....d again today, heading north, just had to abort my trip to Central.

Quelle surprise, non?.... didn't we all agree that it's STILL a holiday today? Highway 7 heading north will be starting to congeal around tea time.

Try again manana.

That bma is just google maps's traffic overlay. AFAIK the data comes from Android phones carried in the cars. On a couple of occasions I've seen red ahead of me, which turned out to be old data and changed to green right after I drove through. Works best when there are many users on the road. Google also offers average statistics, just select a time instead of live traffic.

Yes, schoolboy error on my part.

Mrs NL's restaurant was balls to the walls right up through Monday night. She says Tuesday was dead and she closed early. She reckons everyone has finally gone back to work or else they are broke... probably both!

So, is the traffic super quiet now? I am out of the country buy suspect that the month of holidays has most punters staying at home this past week. Some schools re-open next week so I expect it to start getting busy again.

?

Next Monday all schools (even the latest ones) should reopen.

Thank heaven! No more kids hanging around all day.

Thai domestic holiday season is then definitely over.

But my expectation would be that this leads to some cooling down of traffic?

The internal morning and afternoon traffic from schools is not that big a factor?

Traffic seems better now. Many are taking back the time lost last weekend and driving 120kph+ on southern Suk, it's become a race track. Beware when trying to change lanes.

So it's all better? Back to what passed for normal before Songkran or is it even quieter than that?

Trafic on the bypass was shocking this morning.
