I'm on a Non-O visa, with the 90 days in Thailand, then visa run.

Now I just booked tickets for a trip to Germany, leaving June 5. Didn't notice that my 90 days are over on June 2. facepalm.gif

Now what is the most practical approach? Getting the official 5 days extension (i.e. spending a day at the Immigration and paying 1,900 Baht) or just do the overstay, pay the fine and listen to the sermon. Or driving to Cambodia, wasting a day and 2 passport pages.....?

In the current climate, I would avoid overstay. Although very unlikely, once you are on overstay, you could be arrested, deported and blacklisted. The Cambodia run seems more of a hassle than getting 7 days to leave the country for 1,900 baht. One thing that I have been curious about: for a regular extension, you must go to your local immigration office. For a denial of an extension, and 7 days to leave the country, maybe you can pick an immigration office that handles you more quickly. Anyone know?

If married go get 60 extension at Imm.

1900 baht I think.

Can I do that at any Immigration office or only in Pattaya? What documents do I need?

You can apply at any office BUT will need to give an address within that offices area. They might want proof of address.

60 Day Extension of Stay

  • Original marriage certificate plus signed copy.
  • Signed copies of wife's ID and Tabien Baan.
  • Signed copies of your passport pages: ID page, visa, entry stamp, departure card.
  • 1 x photo 6 x 4.
  • Your wife.
  • Maybe a TM30 / proof of address.
  • 1,900 baht.

that's complicated...she works in Pattaya, I work in Bangkok, need to take a day off for both of us...

Does anyone have experience with the consequences of a three day overstay? I did that by accident years ago and it was not really any issue. Understand that times have changed since...

  • If you make it to the airport and surrender you will pay 1,500 baht, get an overstay stamp in your passport and be free to return.
  • If you get caught, arrested and prosecuted you will be deported and banned for 5 year. IMO it is unlikely, even if caught, that you would face prosecution but there is always the chance, and you open yourself up to corruption/bribes.

There are no real consequences unless you are discovered to be on overstay prior to reaching the airport. I personally would not take the (admittedly small) risk.

A 7 day extension can be had which will cost 1900 Bht.

You should be able to get 7 days to leave the country at CW (1,900 baht). Fill out the usual TM7 extension of stay application and you should be given a stamp in your passport declining the extension, but giving you 7 days to leave the country. Take details of your flight although probably not needed.

Would that also work in any other immigration office?

Yes, as long as you use a local address, otherwise I don't know.
