Six undocumented Cambodian migrant workers were deported by Thai authorities on Monday night, according to police. The workers, from Battambang, Takeo and Kampot provinces, turned themselves over to Thai border officers after spending three days and nights in a eucalyptus field, where they said during questioning they had been abandoned by a Cambodian broker without food or water.

The migrants added that the broker promised them jobs in Thailand before abandoning them in Thailand’s Sa Kaeo province’s Mueang Sa Kaeo district, Chhit Ly of Banteay Meanchey’s 815 Border Unit told Khmer Times yesterday.

“All the workers have been returned to their home provinces already,” he added, saying the migrants were all educated on the dangers of crossing the Cambodia-Thai border illegally beforehand.
