BANGKOK: -- A number of soldiers surrounded the home of former Samut Prakarn MP of the Pheu Thai party before dawn Thursday in bid to have him undergo the military "attitude adjustment."

But Mr Worachai, a key member of the Pheu Thai party, was not in when a group of soldiers came to his home.

Worachai later told the media that he was not in when soldiers forced to open the front gate and pulled off a telephone cord and deleted video footage in his CCTV camera.

He said the soldiers were still surrounding his house.

It was not known why the military wanted to see him but Matichon Online said the former MP earlier strongly criticised the prime minister.

OK....that's not intimidation is it?....breaking into the gate, destroying phone lines and deleting the contents of a video security camera......nah..normal here nowadays!!

And just this morning on the TV news a Minister was telling the world,(in English) at a news conference that Thailand absolutely respects human rights, regardless of wealth or political views...

Over the last few days the BBC has been reporting a lot from N. Korea including one of their own staff being expelled because they didn't like his reporting.

I believe it was said he had disrespected Marshal Kim.

The current government isn't even a particularly competent repressive government. They routinely show up at the houses of people they want to take into custody, only to find they are not home; or worse, some housemaid or relative tells them to come back in a few days, "cuz, we're busy right now".

This is the only humor I can find in the human rights situation. The rest of it is just a well of sadness for Thailand.

Off topic - but did you see where he took a photo with his phone of a portrait of Kim when he was an infant. The tour guide or whatever the woman was went beserk and through a real wobbly. She was angry, hysterical and livid that someone date take a photo and apparently cut some of the painting off in the photo. She grabbed his phone and stormed off muttering about "that's are super duper wonderful leader, how dare you".

Nutters, brainwashed nutters. Now that is a frightening country.

Submitted by editor4 on Thu, 12/05/2016 - 14:12

The military has gone to a new level by intimidating a pro-democracy Buddhist monk at his temple.
On Thursday, 12 May 2016, Phraiwan Wannabut revealed on Facebook and to Prachatai that the military had visited him at his temple more than five times and will come again this Saturday.

He got out as he was informed in advance ?????.Also the Soldiers didn't do their job well. They should have had him under surveillance etc etc?

It is weird, at least they got the right house. Just waiting for them to bust in to a Yellow/DEM/PDRC house by accident.

It's almost like a KFC delivery service where the Junta chain of command phones in their daily target list and then dispatches the troops to round up those on the "wrong" side.

I thought they assembled their "Influential Persons" (aka political opponents) hit list ages ago? Seems like they would have an operational plan for rounding them up in some militarily-tactical fashion?
