It looks certain that Oscar is heading east. At 60 million quid, that's well over the odds for a player who can't command a place in the starting line up. He's following a well worn path now, of relatively young players chasing the big money. Reports are that he will pocket 400 grand a week. That makes him the third highest paid footballer in world football. The standard of football in China is modest so it should be a doddle for him.

Looks like he and Carlos Tevez will be making the same kind of money. Amazing.

Actually, I just read that Tevez is to haul down $615,000 pounds a week.:shock1:

That makes him the world's highest paid footballer. It makes you wonder who does the negotiating at these clubs. Obviously, the 'master plan' is to make the Chinese League the hub of world class football. Inscrutable, naive or just plain stupid?

They must be expecting to sell a lot of Oscar shirts.

There has to be  government money funneled in to the clubs.

As Stevie said, I can't see how any of this is supposed to improve the play of China's NT.

Looks like they are building from the top down. The pitches are rumoured to be awful.

5th highest paid player in the world - though presumably now 6th - is graziano pelle. it is mental but it appears here to stay. can't see it having any positive impact on china's national team like.

Of course it will !

Not a bad game, much better than both the West brom and Sunderland games were to watch. Dave yet another solid performance. Tbeau again there when needed. Thought the game was a little to quick for Fabregas imho....... but a wins a win. Should imagine Stoke will be another turgid affair...just hope clattenburg aint the ref.

why?

Training and playing with players of the calibre of Oscar will certainly improve the standard of the local player's.

Long term - Imported players will raise the profile of the game and therefore encourage  more kids to participate in the game which can only be good for the national team in the future.

that reads like a copy and paste from a press release.

and also see bob's post for context.

I would guess both Mourinho and Conte might have a chuckle at that Alf. Maybe the Chinese will learn how to wander aimlessly around midfield.

A perfectly good example is the impact foreigners in the EPL have had on English players, the national team is thriving

So do you think the English players in the Premier League would be of a higher standard or lower standard if we didn't have foreigners in the League ?

Impressed with Oscar at Chelsea are you Alf ?:whistling:

Regardless to how good or bad Oscar was at Chelsea,  do you not think that Oscar is at a higher level than the players in the Chinese League ?

Apologies to Chelsea fans for straying off topic but i think this is a wider issue than Oscar.

My point, in short is that theoretically playing with superior players should improve others and a league with top foreign players will do just that then take yourselves back to the Bundesliga where i believe 75% of players are German.  Germany is still the team to beat in either of the two international tournaments.

I'm also not sure that watching Oscar show paneling around the midfield counting his wonga will improve anyone around him.

Well and also the players in question have to be a bit capable in the first place - China's simply aren't. They're rubbish technically and lacking physically against their western counterparts and that isn't going to change suddenly because an overpaid Brazilian rocks up.

Very true, but where has anyone said that it is going to change suddenly ?  and where has anyone mentioned 1 brazilian is going to change things ?

another nude win,  with  Hazard The Destroyer, leading the way in attack, and Dave excelling in defence, and  the RAT chipping in another good performance

Conte The Great  One , of playing Hazard in the place of suspended Governor, paid  off,  it appears from the T.V  armchair, Conte is tactically astute and has the knack of making major changes in formations etc etc, where his players have done the business for him, , thus 12 wins on the spin ,, mission impossible, after folding like a deck of cards against ,l/pool and Arsenal long may it continue (touch wood)

its a very nice morning , and a happy  new year to all

Another win but, for the first half an hour, we played like we weren't interested. Up until Willian scored the goal, he was again lethargic and listless. 'How we miss Pedro' was what I was thinking. The goal definitely revitalised Willian. He was everywhere after that, taking people on and tackling back. Marvellous thing confidence! However, we can't be as uncertain in defence when we go to Tottenham.
