Water distribution plan unchanged as drought remains

BANGKOK, 26 May 2016 (NNT) – Changes have yet to be made to the discharge of water from reservoirs as authorities indicate that Thailand continues to suffer from severe drought despite the arrival of the rainy season.

Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Gen Chatchai Sarikalya stated that even though the water level in most reservoirs has begun to rise upon the start of the rainy season, the water distribution plan has not been adjusted yet. He cited the necessity to reserve as much water as possible during this time in order to ensure enough supply through the next dry season. For the time being, the minister asked agriculturists to rely on rainwater for cultivation.

Over the past week, all 33 dams across the country saw a combined inflow of approximately 200 million cubic meters. Nonetheless, the Bhumibol Dam received no extra water as it did not rain in the area.

Meanwhile, Mr Lersak Rewtarkulpaiboon, Director-General of the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation, pointed out that close attention needs to be paid to the water situation as the drought crisis still persists in the country. He also said a cessation of rainfall is forecast in the middle of June; however, preventive measures have been prepared against water shortages.

The PM's self sufficiency plan in full swing. I'm alright as I have control. You havent got control thats why you havent got sufficient water.

The sacred oxen predicted plentiful rainfall, and a bumper harvest.

Various/sundry "authorities" stated unequivocally that rainy season started on May 15.

Time for some more amulets?

the minister asked agriculturists to rely on rainwater for cultivation.

Now that's what I call a PLAN.

Does the Minister believe that farmers haven't figured that one out yet given decades of farming?

This plan might be better called the Sustainability of Ridiculousness.
