Myanmar looks to ease port congestion

Myanmar is pushing ahead with a variety of new rulings aimed at easing congestion at its ports.Customs teams at Yangon’s ports will now operate 24 hours a day, the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry said yesterday.


Earlier this month the port authority in Yangon started fining owners of containers that have lain idle at the port for too long as it emerged boxships are having to wait up to 10 days to call at the cramped port.
