Donations (for Mr. Dennis Dubois currently living in Phrae) can be given at Suan Dok (Maharaj Nakorn) hospital Chiang Mai starting tomorrow (May 28th). This is the hospital on Suthep rd. just south of Chiang Mai RAM hospital. Donations must be alcohol free.

Suan Dok hospital is a big place. Where to go? To their blood bank on the second floor, just above the emergency room? Is that open on Saturdays?

Also, what are the age restrictions on donors?

Good point Nancy I believe it is 60 could be 65. Also what type blood is needed. I know mine is Type O RH negative. I have been informed from a reliable source that RH negative is a very rare type in Asia. Some thing like .03% Western world it is about 15%. I know it took them a week to get 2 units for me one from Bangkok and one here in Chiang Mai.

I don't know about any age limit as that would probably be up to the donation center.

I am getting my information 3rd hand, but the last word I got was that they will be performing the surgery at that hospital, but not until they have enough RH Negative Platelets on for for the procedure. O negative was mentioned, but I'm not sure if other blood types can be used if it is just platelets being used. I by no means am an expert on blood, plasma, and platelet types.

As soon as I get more information I will post it.
