Big Fire

Featured Replies

Watching a very big fire on the hillside above maybe beyond Banrak from Plai Leam

Looks bigger than the one a few weeks ago

Can't believe some idiot would light a fire in this wind crazy

But there again TIT

Soo opposite Makro. Close to the shooting range. Police and fire services attending. Seems they have put it out now.

Yes opposite Makro, soi Shooting Range. I Was there...

...passing by with the first firetruck coming in back of me, so stopped at the side of the road to give way...

...now when stopped walking inside the area...

...seem like mainly coconut plantagen and one or more small huts/shades in there. Pretty big area burning, but under control, some few palms burning at the top. Difficult to see the back up-hill, if there's a house – sometime it looked like it – but folks screamed in Thai that somebody died, or was dying.

I'm pleased to see how quick small and big water supply trucks came to fill the tanks of the firebrigade trucks – that actually helped a lot. Only after we had left the site, the firebrigade water trucks with police escorte from Nathon was rushing through the Fisherman Village intersection.

Quite a number of people began to use old palm-leafs from the ground to flap fire out, very efficient.

Had unfortunately left my phone in the car, so no pictures today – but there will probably be some in the news, if it was serious.

But there again TIT

Yes. Wildfire only happen in Thailand.

This week there have been 270 new fires with 165,805 ha of area burned. The majority of this week’s fires have occurred in Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec (20%, 26%, and 15% respectively), while 87% of the area burned was in Alberta. Seasonal fire occurrence and area burned remain significantly above the 10-year average.
