EgyptAir’s A320 made 3 emergency landings preceding MS804 crash – French media

FRANCE -- The Airbus 320, which is the focus of an intensive search after it crashed into the Mediterranean Sea last month, is said to have been forced to turn around and make emergency landings at least three times during the 24-hours preceding the crash.

That’s according to French public television channel France 3. The surprise claims were put to former aviation security official, Jean-Paul Troadec:

“These new findings are an important element for the investigators. We cannot presume to know know exactly what happened on board but it’s not entirely normal to turn around several times after a technical incident without finding anything.”

Warning systems called Acars are said to have signalled an anomaly on board shortly after takeoff from three airports where the Airbus had stopped. These alert procedures were investigated each time with a technical audit on the ground. The findings must have been negative since the plane was allowed to take off again.

Jean-Paul Troadec, however insisted that the Acars signals are emitted automatically only in the case of a malfunction. In normal mode they remain silent.

So far only a relatively small amount of debris has been recovered from the missing EgyptAir flight which crashed killing all 66 people on board.

The hunt for the plane’s black boxes received a boost on Wednesday when possible signals from one of them were picked up by a search vessel.

Without the flight recorders investigators can’t know for certain what caused the plane to plummet into the sea.

As it stands, the overwhelming possibility is terrorist activity. Just because no one group has advertised their involvement means s*it to me. In fact, they might be wising up. Why advertise your triumphs when it's working so well.

When the Americans gave Afghani's plenty of Stingers and the CIA later wanted to have the "rest" back, they only looked at some middle fingers.

Just wondering how easy difficult it can be to buy one? Try E-Bay.....

Maximum effective range of Stinger: 8km

Altitude at which things went wrong ("280 km (170 mi; 150 nmi) north of the Egyptian coast,[7] and about the same distance from Kastellorizo,"): 11.3km.

The distance from the missile launch point would be 11.3km if the aeroplane was directly above the launch point. If it wasn't the distance would be even greater.

Get a grip man.

This "report" is rumormongering of the first degree.

Any "emergency landings" would be a matter of record.

And to claim there were three such landings within 24 hours without providing evidence of where, exactly, these events took place is grossly irresponsible.

likely impossible. So the plane turned around and made an emergency landing, then aviation engineers thoroughly checked the systems and signed off, this all takes time. Just not enough hours in the day to do this x3.

It has been apparent from the obfuscation at the start that this was islamic terror.

Altitude 280 kms? Wow, it must have been in orbit.

learn to read (and understand) before you 'shoot' someone down.

280km NORTH of... not 'above'

sad
