Jonathan Fairfield
PM advises Thais to "use their brains and intellect" in wake of Tiger Temple raids Image: ThairathBANGKOK:-- Following the raids on the Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi PM Prayut has advised Thais not to be gullible and to think things through clearly using their brains and intellect.Through a government spokesman, Sansern Kaewkamnert, the PM said Saturday that the events of this week should serve as a life lesson in discovering the truth, reported Thairath. The search of the temple has discovered many grisly items such as tiger parts, skins, teeth, carcasses of cubs - even tigers in jars purported to be some kind of energy drink. All done under the guise of a caring temple. It is now shuttered."Who could believe that such goings on could happen at a temple, " he said. It was good that a search was carried out to discover the truth and people should be careful before putting their trust in such places. People should use their brains and intellect to discover the truth, he said.He added: "It is like when you see a soldier in uniform. Don't just believe because he is a soldier he must be strong and healthy. Maybe he is sick not healthy."So don't think that all monks or all temples display good conduct. Conduct can be rotten to the core. Open your hearts and use your intellect to discover the truth." Source: Thairath -- 2016-06-

This from the guy with 3 kilos of amulets around his neck, and who consults astrologers because he thinks a tree nearly fell on him because of black magic. This place gets surreal sometimes. No matter who's book they are from the comment is 100% spot on. You know your contradicting yourself don't.. they are the laughing stock because they have sects like that abbot that pretends to be sick, and a tiger temple like this who pretends to be good but is a front for illegal trade. So his crusade against those bad parts of Buddhism would only help its credibility. So why you call that bringing Buddhism down to go against an abbot that launders money and a tiger temple that is a fraud is a complete mystery to me. I understand you don't like the PM.. I have similar feelings for most of the PTP but even those make valid comments once in a while just like the PM. attrayant
Classic magical thinking. Just "open your hearts", whatever that means, and the truth will come to you. Maybe schools ought to teach magical thinking as a stand-alone subject instead of just integrating it into all the subjects like they do now.
