TAT to propose tourism safety plan

BANGKOK, 8 June 2016 (NNT) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is set to propose three solutions to enhance tourism safety, aiming to apply attraction rating systems referenced from China to alleviate the issue of overcrowding, according to the TAT chief.

TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn has said that the TAT will be proposing a new tourism safety plan to the policy committee’s meeting, in the wake of recent accidents involving tourists.

The new plan will be proposed as a national agenda to provide safety protection to tourists in an integrated manner between agencies and local organizations, as well as attracting quality tourists to bolster international confidence in the Kingdom’s tourism industry.

The plan calls for three solutions, namely the Stay Safe solution which is designed to ensured safety for tourists during their stays in Thailand, the Spend Safe solution ensuring transparency of purchasess and transactions, and Eat Safe solution ensuring food hygiene.

The TAT is also aiming to propose an environmental management plan as a long-term plan, including limitations to tourists at certain natural tourism attractions to avoid overuse that would result in the closure of attractions for environmental restoration.

The TAT governor has added it is seeking to implement China’s method of an attraction ranking system, as part of the 2017 tourism strategy, with clear indication on each attraction’s tourist capacity to ease overcrowding. The new method will be piloted in key tourism destinations such as Samui, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Pattaya.

Is this different to the tourist safety plan of last week or the one, the week before or the one that will be announced next week.

Yes, this is from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, last week we had Minister Kobkarn with the Ministry Of Tourism & Sports and her proposals:. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/922824-thai-tourism-minister-confirms-stringent-measures-to-take-care-of-tourists/

Stay tuned for an imminent announcement from The Tourism Council of Thailand. Safety is paramount.

Education and laws are a good start, but as always is let down by enforcement (from company and goverment levels). For example with food hygene, i've seen major supermarkets selling cooked meat packed and left to sit on tables for hours without heating/refrigeration. As for safety, where to start! Starting anywhere with safety woukd be a good start! coffee1.gif

i guess also from a tourist point of view that they need to approach visiting other countries with a bit of common sense, which wouldn't hurt to remind them about. Yeah, i know, they are on holiday and just want to have fun but . . . . .

Ah the constant striving for betterment if not perfection.

The current plan is better than the last one but not as good as the one about to be announced.

Do all the tourist bodies have a rota system that allows each of them a public statement in turn ?

"Trust Us Thailand Is Safe"

TUTIS

Strangely enough the meaning is protected, safe, secure, and they missed this one !

There is also the National Organization for Safe Holidays In Thailand.

Never one of these statements without 'quality tourists' popping up. Quality tourists are increasingly NOT interested in coming here.

More hot air from the deluded of Tat!

Why doesn't Thai visa have a pinned section at the top of news for all the daily garbage statements issued by the TAT.?

Any kind of gag would be a definite improvement placed on these spokespeople. No specifics whatsoever, just integrated vague ideas without substance or meaning

It may take money to implement this plan...money that will never reach it's intended target..

..so then..TaT makes a bold statement, plan needs extra funding, nothing more is mentioned about the subject...money dissolves into

some dept. or other's thin air.

A month from now we'll see the announcement of another plan.....

... "three solutions"... "Stay Safe"... "Spend Safe"... "Eat Safe"...

well it's better than their previous campaign which was:

stay NOT too long !

spend ALL you have !

eat THIS alien suckers!

Am I correct in saying there was yet another speedboat crash at noon today..2 killed & many injured..? (someone had read this in the BKK post today)

If this is the case, then whatever plans the minister has to reassure future tourists that Thailand is a safe holiday destination better be drastic ones..!

Yes. Just saw it reported on Channel News Asia.

But they are going to tell tourists to wear life jackets. So don't worry about it. Its stringent. All is well.

I used to think the propaganda was just that.

But now it's clear a delusional believe is taking place in these weekly announcements .

It's an illness afflicted on so many in the ranks of power.

Be it their source of power or legit recognition by the people , popularity etc.

Tourism can be quickly seen by press reports of boat crashes , beatings , robberies , murders , and traffic carnage , as well as poisoning s by bed sheets , pools , and/ or food to involve risk.

Thailand kills more westerners than any other country they visit.

While processes might help .

Until this third world Nation enforces simple things like cars stopping at a crossing .

And drivers of mini vans be kept under 90 kilometres an hour

Even policing of Thai thugs roaming streets .

Tourists will never be safe there.

I had to laugh at even a cosmetic surgery on a nose a vain female westerner had in Phuket at Bangkok hospital there.

The surgeon broke her nose so badly she looks now like a clown .

Sad for her , but even those sort of warnings are worth mention.

As for marine activity well enough said.

Main rules are avoid late night streets .

Don't use road transport for long distance if a choice of flying is available .

Don't digest what's not know and fresh.

Wash everything.

Don't touch power points .

Get involved with Thai touts.

Buy gems

Go near Russian woman

Marine industry .

Withdraw cash late

Get drunk in shonky bars

Trust anyone

Follow anyone

Drink anything offered

And keep door locked

Valuables locked up.

That's the tourist advice

Along with please be aware the army have taken over and the chance of being being arrested for a Facebook like exists.

And stating views on politics etc.

Corruption is rife.

Police may extort money from you.

Remember cars won't stop at crossings

The water is bad

And environment in general littered with trash.

You will be charged more

And those smiles conceal a cunning

Have a pleasant trip

Never one of these statements without 'quality tourists' popping up. Quality tourists are increasingly NOT interested in coming here.

Quality to Thais simply means those that spend.

Russian criminals

High end Pattaya sex tourists

Fugitives hiding in sea side towns

Even Chinese that are higher up in their communist system then the multitudes that make up current numbers.

Naturally it's increasingly unlikely westerners on high incomes and with some discernment are attracted .

The simple fact knowledge of Thailand Masquading as a stable democracy doesn't cut.

People know in general who is running the show.

TV news has highlighted it's human rights abuses over the population.

Just add robberies and murders and increasing violence against tourists in a more desperate economy .

And westerners with high incomes tend to go to more "" positive "" and progressive nations in the 21st.

Thailand is like an aged painted lady who has lost her youth and is now bitter.

Westerners are highlighted in the press.

Their embassy protested against.

Comments over our requests they change barbaric practices like fishing slavery ( largely unheeded)

Finally it's not smooth as silk .

It's really seen now as arrogant and a deluded country that never pauses to address its third world context of xenophobic nationalistic faults.

It simply wants to remain in another century.

And the same old cycles repeat .

Happy on their knees .

Quality tourists will still go.

Fascinated at temples and resorts that offer a rehabilitation of the soul.

But mainly those that care little about the Thai population .

Elites

But as the Thai image fades so will their quality tourists.

After all few westerners go to a holiday destination that millions of Chinese are hoarded to also

Then there is the conscience question over ousting a democratic leader and finally the political time bomb of civil unrest.

Even traditional friendships have seen the US court more positive acquaintances ...

Really the Chinese and Russians and Indians and Middle East is the new tourist ingredients in their soup
