manutfarang
I support this action, next i want him to ban those pictures of dudes with them six pack abs, it makes me feel so fat and hurts my male ego. and those guys that are younger than me too, and got more money. Reading difficulties have we? "From July, London commuters will no longer have to view advertisements that "conform to unhealthy or unrealistic body images," This is actually a good thing. Then hopefully we won't have to see extremely obese people either. Of course the racists would jump on this. Unfortunately for them this has nothing to do with Islam. Nice try though bigots. tx22cb
Nothing wrong with a fit body - with enough hard work, exercise, dedication and a healthy diet, most people can have a better physique. Unfortunately, I am too lazy to do so, but I am quite content with my not-quite-so-perfect body. I would be in favour of banning overly-artificial bodies - those with too much surgery, implants, scalpel-work.
Alwyn
I think most people are missing the point here. Two points actually... First point is that his biggest promise about freezing public transport fare for 3 years has already been broken after a month or so yet he takes it upon himself to decide what people are allowed to look at. He made a statement to the effect of "I have teenage daughters and I don't want them seeing these adverts. So because he doesn't want his daughter seeing adverts nobody else can? Second point. This now follows his ideology... My daughters only eat Halal so everybody else has to (or turn it on it's head and say, my daughters cannot eat non-badly-slaughtered animals so nobody else can)? It's not called Londinistan without a reason...

So people who disagree with your point of view are bigots? Apart from that bit of nonsense I would like to bring your attention to another piece of nonsense. Muslims are not a race. They are people who follow an ideology, an infant religion; Good or bad, they are a race in the same way Christians are not a race and Muslims are not a race in the same way Jews actually are a race (according to scientific proof of a common gene among Jews anyway!) So please stop with the racist card. BTW, I think has everything to do with his ideology.

alofthailand
This Islamic decision by the new Muslim mayor of London contradicts The Advertising Authorities decision last year. It is deeply patronising to suggest women are so weak minded and stupid thar they are influenced by images og women in western swimwear or of beautiful girls. Men do not have issues with handsome male models. That this dictate comes from a mayor whose religion specialises in shaming females into covering their bodies from infancy. Utter Islamic hypocrisy. Chicog
What a fantastic decision. How many jobs are going to be lost, and how much are costs going to rise due to the removal of advertising revenue. Or is that another cost that the UK taxpayer will have to shoulder ? None. The advertisers will produce adverts that don't push young kids into eating disorders. So it's ads with a fit girls in a bikinis that push youngsters into eating disorders?? Oh please - this isn't about public health. It's about a new mayor and his religious scruples. That's just garbage. It was one of his election pledges and it makes perfect sense.

Khon Kaen Dave
isnt this just another way of getting good looking girls in swimming costumes, being shown on holiday, off the boards.Good looking guys with perfect pecs off the boards also.Isnt this just another way of appeasing our Muslim brothers who consider this a sacrilege .What about the underwear companys that advertise?.This is just another iron fist in a velvet glove situation. With the excuse that it is saving embarrasment for the tubby girl. Beware Londonstani,Sharia is here to stay and this is only the beginning.
nuakmuaynina
This is a terrible move. I never saw anything wrong with the ad, she's not even that thin, she's slender yes but healthy. If this ads shames the 60 percent of the population that are overweight/obese into losing weight then good.

Chicog
What freedom do you think has been lost?the Uk doesn't become Sharia compliant overnight. There will be a gradual erosion of rights, this here is a small step along that ugly road. If he started by promoting fgm there would be an outcry, but years down the line after xy and z was changed (here starting with non burqua clad skimpily dressed females) we can have an fgm campaign on female health grounds, or to stop potential promiscuity. Its a when not if, and this path to Full Sharia compliance is well under way. The level of overreaction is astonishing. You do know he was elected, right? And that this was part of his election campaign? And this in a city with a 12% Muslim population? I do wish people could learn to stop spouting rubbish. It's about time someone told advertisers to stop telling women that they are ugly if they don't have a beautiful face, big tits and a nice ar$e. That's all this is about. err ever hear of market forces. If the advertising is financially unviable it will end. If the ads sell lots of product they stay. That is the old system sans islamic interference. So with only 12% muslim the whole change London to resemble saudi starts. Not my choice if truth be told. Of course I've heard of market forces. Do you think they would have banned stopped cigarette advertising if they weren't forced to? And, ridiculously, you still blur this issue with Islam. Here's a clue. If it was an unpopular decision, why do you think he made it a campaign pledge? Duh. if he had made death to infidels part of his campaign he would have the 12% plus the liberals that don't realize they too are considered infidels, so he could easily have over 50% support for radical nonsense. That does not make it right though. Hard to even answer such rubbish.
