Is Thailand Value for money
To be honest, it is a thin line in my opinion right now. I don't even mean the exchange rate as that is still better than it has been in recent times. I mean, nowadays to just sit down somewhere for 2 coffee's and lunch is costing easily 300-350 baht and that is mid range. With the exact same money I could basically also get that in many smaller towns in western europe, let alone in southern europe. The difference however is that these places look way better, the service is better, the staff also earns much more and the place has much more costs. Yet for some reason they also make a profit in Europe doing this. Anyway this was just one simple example, even tho the visa's (for now) are easy again, the new tax doomsday now lingers... Generally speaking the quality is also way lower, even it can be good quality and service at even more expensive places but that is exactly what you get already in average places in europe. Not sure how much longer Thailand has the benefit of the doubt to be honest. Makes it hard to decide anything in life here now too, in terms of buying any properties, even to send over money, buying a(nother) motorbike or car, improving furniture at home, not knowing I might need to leave over 180 days from next year, and if so, likely just not live in TH at all except for a holiday each year. -

No, I told you in my reply that the 20% referred to the fat content of the raw product. Here: It's a cheese burger, we need to add the figures for cheese, which is 9g. So the raw meat has 20% fat, but I accepted your figure of 14% cooked. That makes 23g for patty and cheese alone. The mistake I made was writing 'cheese burger meat' instead of 'minced meat'. Corrected that, but it was still too much for you. Hopefully your brain has adjusted. -

A large majority of people here are never taught to swim as children. Care isn't something shown much here for the young. No one is going to jump in and help because most, if not all of those watching, can't swim themselves. This will continue forever here. -

For once, I am in total agreement with him. Unfortunately, Teresa May and David Davis apparently had no idea of what they wanted and how to get it. Of course, Frost can't be blamed for this but it does beg the question, was the eventual TCA indicative of his clear thinking on the matter? You state that, "The TCA was relatively rushed but Frost was under pressure from Johnson to "get Brexit done"." Agreed but why the rush? Johnson had rid the CPP of Remainer MPs and he had a 80-seat majority. Unlike May, Johnson was in a position to get any negotiated Agreement through Parliament. No doubt the EU would have been mighty cheesed off if Johnson had gone to Brussels and effectively said, 'Forget the past 2+ years of negotiations, let's start again'. Nevertheless, as you correctly point out, good faith was in pretty short supply at the time. What is the worse that could have happened? The EU could have refused to negotiate further and 'No Deal' would have been the outcome. While imo this would have been even more of a disaster for the UK than the current TCA, it could have been a political bonus for Johnson. He could've taken the moral high ground by blaming the EU for the breakdown in negotiations, whilst at the same time giving the Flat Earthers (ERG) exactly what they wanted. -

A typical week on Thailand's roads
A lot can go wrong. And many of us motorcycle riders expect the (in Thailand not so) unexpected. I wonder how many motorcycle riders who ride sensible (the doesn't mean slow) die in accidents. Of course it can happen to anybody. But it seems many motorcycle riders just ride like stupid idiots. If nobody changes the lane or the speed then they will survive, and maybe they are even the fastest on the road. But if anybody brakes or changes the lane then lots of idiots die because they never thought about that they are not alone on the road. And then there are many car drivers who obviously never rode a bike. And lots of motorcycle riders who never drove a car. They don't understand each other because they don't know the perspective of the other. -

Supercar convoy causes major delays on M6 motorway (video)
Well believe it or not, the maximum allowable speed on the section of the M6 that's open is jusy 80 kph. That's 50 mph - on a motorway??? Not that anyone pays attention to it but they might soon.............. last time I was up there (August) a lot of mid height poles were being installed around 500m apart, as the lights are already in, I suspect the poles may be for cameras. 80 kph? - I'll be sticking to the old road thanks.
