CHIANG MAI:-- A Dutch woman has died after jumping from the Chiang Mai Grandview Hotel and Convention Centre.

Police were called to the scene on Saturday afternoon after receiving a call from a concerned Thai woman, who is reported to have known the victim.

When police and rescue workers arrived at the Grandview Hotel at 17:10 on Saturday, they Nouschka Kuss, 26, alive but with life threatening injuries. She was rushed to the Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai hospital but died a short time later.

Police investigating the incident have been trying to establish why the young Dutch woman leapt from the fifth floor car park of the hotel.

Officers questioned Ms Gridima Limsiri, who had raised the alarm, and explained that she and Ms Kuss were at the hotel to attend a trade conference on behalf of Unicity. After presenting at the event they left around 4pm.

Ms Gridima said she went to collect the car while Ms Kuss waited on the fifth floor of the car park, with the pair having mistakenly gone to the wrong level. When she returned to collect her friend, Ms Kuss could not be found. Ms Gridima called a friend who worked at the hotel which is when she had was told the body of a foreign woman had been found next to the hotel car park.

As part of their investigation, police checked the phone of the deceased and two messages sent to two different people. One was sent at 19:21 the previous day to a Jerry Perry, which read: “Don’t have to worry about me. Take care of yourself. If anything happens to me, please don’t blame yourself. We cannot please everybody.”

Another message was to the boyfriend of Ms Kuus who told police he last saw her on June 24th and that no argument took place between them.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and officials from the Dutch Embassy have been notified.

Not typical Dutch names, does not mean they don't have a Dutch passport.

She obviously wanted to die.. so be it.. too bad it had to go like this. There are easier ways to do it. But best would be if everyone had a right to die when they wanted with a simple pil.

Mysterious, if she did it at the hotel then it's not.. Who's to know why people kill themselves, only they can say..

in the cm108.com coverage, there are many graphic photos which reveal she dropped some under garments on the balcony before jumping. i think that confirms she jumped and was not pushed or slipped over the low rails.

...makes no sense...2 hours to find the car....???

...anybody could have sent those texts...before or after....

...something not right here....

...especially when someone involved is .....'too quick and eager to provide an explanation'.....

You tend to read these stories and turn the page. Unfortunately, I can not. On one of my many trips and stays in No Man's Land. I was walking to get Thai cuisine from one of the shops in Soi Japiya that runs parallel to Grand Diamond Casino. Those of you who have been there have seen this Soi next to the Cambodian Immigration. Anyway, as I just cleared the employee entrance of Grand Diamond I heard a thump and then screams. Turning around I was met with the grizzly sight of a man splattered all over the soi. Amazing what speed and altitude can do to flesh and bone. Then I thought how unfortunate it was for this man to go this way. What was in his mind, I thought, then as quick as that thought came it was replaced with a thought of joy and relief that I wasn't hit by a falling body.

Very sad.

Agree Dave, how very sad.

What's happening folks? So many people of many nationalities are jumping in Thailand.

Seems so incongruous to be disproportionately happening in the land of smiles of mostly lovely people, lovely food, lovely views etc.

Maybe I'm naive by not speculating about typical TVN innuendoes, deviations, suppositions and themes, I just want to feel sooo sad please.

Most relevant is; relatives and friends will be grieving over the loss of her precious life.

A dear friend took her life recently and nerves are still raw.

Let us grieve who choose to and maybe some readers may find a softer side in their hearts too.

Spare a though also for those who saw the horrific event that will forever remain embedded in their memories.

That's nightmare material.

Just came to mind from 100 generations ago; "Pray for those that mourn".

Yup. Feel for you mate.

As in my post above; an emotional horrific sight forever embedded one's mind and in your case first hand.

"Unfortunate" has been expressed in another way as "selfish" considering the grief this easy way out brings to those left behind and even to totally disconnected bystanders such as yourself. BUT>> One can never really know the feeling of those who get soooo close to taking their own life till you've "been there and nearly done that". Tell me about it.

How sad.

Suicide is never a solution we are in the land of smiles that follow the Buddhist philosophy according to that a being experience countless rebirthes in different planes of existence according to one deeds ( motivation beyond actions and activities both physical nd mental ) the last motivated act as a mold from all other accumulated motivations is giving the energy push to the next existence.. So if this act is an act of destruction ( here the destruction of this own body ) the next existence will much likely be in an destructive environment if this being finds birth in the human world ( that is extremely rare ) it could be in a place that experience destruction wars famine etc. killing also that birth could be in a semi optimal body like without limbs or a cripple etc etc or in the same position as now with another extremely difficult mental landscape so suicide is never a solution for temporary situations ( as all situations are changing essencless and temporary ) so the solution move away from the problem strengthen the mind learn to observe find another partner or eradicate the weakness that makes u believe u need one.. Do charity do positive acts as they counteract ur negative tendencies...simple work up the happy ? positive side of ur mind a visit to a massage ? a good restaurant ? a nice tour etc etc or learn meditation that's actually the most effective wayto drive out all tendencies of the mind to remain Carm and equanimous

But active and positive.. Well as I said this is the Buddhist perspective if anyone believes in a creator god of some kind ask urself : did he ur father in heaven create u that later in life u destroy his creation I doubt it I think he create u that u able to experience his world and learn to love ❤ all and him if someone has no interest in any philosophy whatsoever and thinks. Money talks and when I die the remains go to the worms ..what I see I believe all other things are not etc well this mental combination I think is the most painful and lonely..but well u are there now just make the best of it and don't suicide my deepest compassion for those who did.

There just seems to be so many people that either commit suicide in Thailand; fall over railings; or possibly other reasons. Frankly, the numbers seem astounding. I wonder if any of the Embassies communicate with each other on this phenomenon. RIP to the deceased and condolences to her family.

I'm not saying this is or isn't correct, but as an ex mental health professional, I'd like to say that Clinical Depression (A disease, and not the emotion of feeling down) is sadly something that deserves more research and certainly more public awareness ( And certainly less mock as is consistent here). It will strike 4 out of 5 people at sometime in their life, and is the highest cause of deaths of males between the ages of 18 to 40 in the UK alone. If you have friends or family, then I encourage you to learn about it. It is curable, so you just might save their life one day.

RIP

Taking one's bra and shoes off, and hanging the bra over the railing seems to exclude, accident, murder and the other popular conspiracy theories.

Some sort of mental breakdown, sad that one so young should do this.

I don't believe this story as presented. A lady goes to the wrong floor of a garage, doesn't continue with friend to look for car, instead takes her shoes and bra off and jumps to her death. I highly doubt suicide was the cause. Oh, here I am on the fifth floor, might as well take my bra off and shoes off and jump to end it all.

To escape what? You've got us wondering now. She evidently had a fiancee and one would assume young and in love. There surely were other problems in this young girls life with which she was having trouble coping. It is very sad indeed and I feel for her family and friends.

RIP dutch girl, so young. I hope a proper investigation is made.

Young has nothing to do with it...

It could have. It is often the case that young people are more vulnerable in decisions related to heartbreaks, or when feeling left alone.

Then there are cases of mental problems, and then age has nothing to do with it as you say, but still it has to do with my human feelings.
