Has anyone been to any of the dam's/reservoir's to check on the levels lately? I don't expect them to be anywhere near full, but just curious as to how much they might have risen the past month or so. Wasn't someone going to the one by Doi Saket regularly to check on that one and showing weekly pics?

Water levels have not gone up yet and actually looked like they have dropped at the resovoir near the 700 year stadium. Mae Kuang Dam on Thursday looked to have no positive change either. Fingers crossed the wet weather continues for the whole rainy season.

Mae Kuang has actually gone up a bit since the rains arrived. Still very low though. Various small reservoirs I've visited have also gone up a touch.

Rain has been patchy, need a few days of continuous falls.

1. Rain has not been patchy. It has been extraordinarily dry all through the first 5 months of the year, with May in particular still being very hot and dry. And then June has been extraordinarily wet, given that it normally doesn't get this many full on rain days and continued overnight rain.

2. What needs 'a few days' ot continuous falls? Reservoirs take months to fill up to any noticeable extent. And given the drought, the best scenario is a reasonable recovering by October, althogh even then they won't be anywhere near full capacity. (Which is just fine, as it means little risk of flooding this year)

Of course its been dry the first 5 months of the year it always is,well in the 15 years I have been here. June was not extraordinarily wet it for all depends ,as you should know ,what district you live in.

The June rainfall in the part of Hang Dong we live in was about average (according to my rain guage) while other parts received over the av and others less (my interpretation of the word patchy)

Yes I should have obviously said ,"many days of continuos rain" not just isolated incidents,my mistake.

Chiang Mai is renowned for patchy rain ,it can be pouring in the old city and by the time you get to Mae Hia not a drop and vice versa.
